View Full Version : 10 Witch Setup?

I used to play dropless gray and I kept trashing all my drops except a couple of clerics and some witches. The reason being that I was afraid I might be tempted to play setups with a lot of drops, while at the same time fancying playing with 10 witches and how easy it would make playing against *any* setup.
So, it happened. I arranged them all in the first line ready to rush/bomb. Played the first game against a 1100 gray (while I was 1400+) and guess what, I won with 1 witch left. All my wonder and awe at the 10 witch setup went with the wind, in one game.
Then I started playing with my real life friends and came to the conclusion that the 10 witch setup is the most vulnerable and the most dangerous formation I have ever used. You never realize where you stand in the game until the game engine actually analyzes the situation and says "YOU WON!"
In my experiments, I found the following formation to be the best. Has anyone tried and tested any other setup? What were your observations?

Well once i played someone with 3 withes, 2 clerics, 3 knights, a scout and BW and i got owned. 10 witches seems a little excessive on which power because with 3 witches you can still attack every turn with a witch, and still have some defense.

Monkus and others would use 10 witches from time to time. Maybe even cuathon, although i cant say for sure. I have toyed with 6 witch, Dragon, wisp, DSM combo which makes for a pretty nasty bomb as well. I find a spread bomb is much more effective then a cluster. They are fun to say the least.

a pyro would dominate that set, and ive seen a 1400+ grey with a 6 witch set it was actually pretty good..

that's nothing impressive, you should try a 10 set chanty.

Oh, thank you! The main reason I fancied playing with 10 witches was that I saw Monkus' 10 witch form somewhere on the forums or outside at the time I started playing, and thought one day I will have them all and play with total domination. How right could I have been? However, I could not find his setup once I did get all 10 of them. Do you remember how he did set them up?
The problem with a spread setup (for me) is that it feels difficult to get all of the units concerted in attack. It was more scary than fun, but maybe I just need practice with this form like any other.

I played Monkus' set. He set it up like Semper set up his Chanty set. I have 10 Witches as well, and trust me, sets like that are overrated. You are much better off taking out 2-3 of them and switching in damage spreaders and maybe some focus unts in order to break up heavy or spread attacks to your Witches. Sets like that I find easy to beat, when using any decent formation.

LOL :D!
Anyways, I would try it in a flat row like a rush, IDK if you have already tried that (and im guessing you have). Just because its a straight line it would be best against a few counters?
