View Full Version : Why did the Swear Filter Kick me for this one?

Ok, I know the word "sexy" might be able to be construed as vulgar... but so can any word.

I just got booted because i was talking to a guy, and he said"I wish I had a Stone Golem like that..."
and I said:
"Yeah, he is sexy..."

Its a term to just say hes got some awesome power and is nice.

Seriously, how can Sexy really offend someone? "Hi, I've never met you... but your sexy!" Not that anyone would ever say that... but even then its not offensive!

If we want to implement a swear filter: two things...

One, PUBLISH A LIST OF OFFENSIVE WORDS!
two, Anything can be construed as offensive... and everyone knows to just avoid typing certain letters... or putting spaces in the middle of words, so the filter is broken anyway.

Maybe we should put these words on "melons" or "love"... or "cherry" these things all have sexual connotations... But they can also be used in a non-vulgar manner.

As of right now, the only people gettign disconnected are the unwary people who accidentally use a word on the list in normal conversation. The people who are flagrantly insulting me are saying things like:
Fuc k you Goldie! suc k my d ick...
Etc... So the filter is not only disconnecting the non-swearing players in the middle of games, but some immature kiddies actually think it's funny to swear at people non-stop like that hoping they retaliate and forget a space.

I vote we get rid of the filter alltogether. Or at the very least, limit it to racial slurs and basic swear words. Things that would have gotten you written up in grammar school. Not words like "Sexy", or "hitler".
(not that I dont think Hitler was a bad guy... but having his name on the list is just stupid... its equivalant to putting Dohmer or Osama on it... yes their bad guys... but people should be permitted to talk about them! Or not be scared of what else could be on the list if these insignifigant things are!))

Once again, at the very least... post a list of no-no words... so this doesnt happen to me again, please!

This won't be changed at this time, booting out anyone that says age, sex, location is a good thing.
