The Marine corps has been protecting our country for 232 year now and today is it birthday. On November 10, 1775, a Corps of Marines was created by a resolution of Continental Congress. Since that date many thousand men have borne the name "Marine". In memory of them it is fitting that we who are Marines should commemorate the birthday of our corps by calling to mind the glories of its long and illustrious history. The record of our corps is one which will bear comparison with that of the most famous military organizations in the world's history. During 90 of the 146 years of its existence the Marine Corps has been in action against the Nation's foes. From the Battle of Trenton to the Argonne, Marines have won foremost honors in war, and is the long eras of tranquility at home, generation after generation of Marines have grown gray in war in both hemispheres and in every corner of the seven seas, that our country and its citizens might enjoy peace and security. In every battle and skirmish since the birth of our corps, Marines have acquitted themselves with the greatest distinction, winning new honors on each occasion until the term "Marine" has come to signify all that is highest in military efficiency and soldierly virtue. This high name of distinction and soldierly repute we who are Marines today have received from those who preceded us in the corps. With it we have also received from them the eternal spirit which has animated our corps from generation to generation and has been the distinguishing mark of the Marines in every age. So long as that spirit continues to flourish Marines will be found equal to every emergency in the future as they have been in the past, and the men of our Nation will regard us as worthy successors to the long line of illustrious men who have served as "Soldiers of the Sea" since the founding of the Corps. ( Lieutenant General Lejeune)

You live in a free country and can agree or disagree with current events...but whether you agree or disagree you can thank a Marine to give you the freedom to do so.
Thank you for the birthday wishes, and Happy Birthday to you too, Bird!

Thing is, some of them didn't sign up for this war. Some of them signed up for a war with a purpose, and have been forced to stay on duty for a long time

An al Qaeda manifesto titled "Why We Fight America," which was made public in June 2002, expresses radical Islam's agenda with abundant clarity: "What happened to America [on 9/11] is something natural, an expected event for a country that uses terror, arrogant policy, and suppression against the nations and the peoples . . . America is the head of heresy in our modern world, and it leads an infidel democratic regime that is based upon separation of religion and state and on ruling the people by . . . laws that contradict the way of Allah. . . . [Therefore], we have the right to kill 4 million Americans - 2 million of them children - and to exile twice as many and wound and cripple hundreds of thousands. Furthermore, it is our right to fight them with chemical and biological weapons . . ."
Yeah lets just quit, that sounds good.

A marine gave me freedom? Sure.....
I'm sorry...I understand the need for a military....but that does not mean I have to like it.

A marine never gave me anything,(god gave me freedom regardless) it's only the founding forefathers of America that gave us the constitution and spelled out other freedoms for us to enjoy....You could argue that they defended our rights to such pre-existing writings, but i have a hard time believing that since not one country has stepped onto American soil to invade this country, nor has attacked us dirrectly.. only military soldiers were harmed, I doubt america was threatened by COMMUNISM, STALINISM excetera.......
I am a free man regardless of the situations around me.
No man gave me life, liberty, freedom, and the right to pursue happiness.
Go remember them but don't ask us to give them a moment of silence .
If i was back in highschool i would have farted over a loudspeaker durring the moment of silence.

HAHAHAHAHAHH i was just watching some rememberance stuff on t.v and saw that more than 200,000 people were underage soldiers 15,16 some as young as 12 fighting for the USA and called marines!
You had 15 year olds manning gunships and 16 year olds driving amphibious vehicles onto enemy soil.
Props to those young kids bravery, but ??????? can't soldiers tell the difference between a 20 year old and a 12 year old?
Have the military no standards?
Or did they see an oportunity to increase their meat shield capabilities?
Apparantly being a marine is not very hard if a 13 year old can do it.
