View Full Version : MY strat and how I got ranked
well I am now 41 and 9, and believe i will be ranked in the nex tupdate. ive only been playing for 3 days, and think that my strat is quite effective.
I have my 3 mages up front on one side, and my assassin/sout/knights in the fron on the other side, with a lighting ward in the middle.
I start our by sending in my mages on a suicide attack, usually all the in the first 3 turns, unless the opponents strat changes things. I can usually end up killing up to 3 units by turn 3, and 50% of the time i can reach the cleric and kill it in one hit with the dark magician. After that i go on the defensive, shooting with my ranger, and backing up, letting my knights block. I eventually send in my assassin for a couple strikes, and by then am able to shoot with my ranger once more. because some units are already weakened or dead from my mages ( which by the way dont always end up dying), they die fairly fast. after attacking with my remaining mages it basically becomes a defensive game for me, where i stay back and heal and draw my opponent in. i usually have time to waste a turn on healing because my opponent has to avoid my lightning ward.
anyways thought id shar that jsut for fun, its got me quite far in a short time.
I cant believe i forgot the most important part of my strat! after drawing the enemy units in, I use, of course, the enchantress to finish it.

Just curious why tell everyone your strategy, so that they will all become better than you?

your opponents obviously have no strategy... if they were bright, they'd fire back with their own casters, then have their knights move in and finish them off. what's a dark magician...????

yeah i have the same kinda strat, but i have an exra witch, so i put her out in front beside my lightning ward, and if i am lucky to get the first move...BAM! seya cleric and damage to a knight and possibly the ward as well. then she is sacrificed because i try to eliminate the cleric asap.

Anyone who loses their cleric first turn is a noob. ANY good player would move it so its nearly impossible to get him first turn.
And hey Lord Makaido, put a barrier ward nearby, so the witch can live to see another day.

the only way to make sure that your cleric is 100% safe is to put a unit 4 squarse infront of it, then dark witchs cant get into atatck postion. but of corse all that will change when dragons come out.

Winning against the newb formation is no feat; if you kill the cleric on turn 1-3, there's no point continuing the game because the person you're playing against has not thought out his formation.
Your strategy can be countered. You rely on magic units to push into central enemy territory, moving at their fastest pace, while the rest of your army waits behind. So, if I knew I was going to be facing your setup, I'd scatter a bunch of wards and the weaker units in the center [because magic is unblockable, so why bother] and then put my knights, assassin, and scout [the other half of the army] heavily skewed to one side. Your magicusers can't get effective damage on the scattered central units, and they have to fight their way through slowly to get to the cleric. Meanwhile my Knights, Scout, and Assassin are pushing fast on the side, and outflanking the rest of your army. If your magicusers try to turn and face the outflankers, they waste time, and there's no way they're going to catch up to the faster units [Scout, Assassin] anyway.
If you want to take the Cleric out fast, you should rely on a Pyromancer-Assassin-Scout combo. Move each one up in turn; the enemy can kill AT MOST one, and with the other two you get the Cleric.
Really the most "effective" [supposedly] Cleric defense is to surround him with a Ward and two other units on the back row... in that case don't bother [unless you are CERTAIN of getting a witch in there safely], just knock out his other six units [one by one, of course]. You will have a 9-6 advantage over him in military force, enough to easily squash him :p
Yeah, unless I see the noob setup, or units all clumped together, I dont use this strategy.
Unfortunately though, there arent THAT many good players out there. look at sites like addictinggames.com, which has thousands of hits a day, and one of its new games is Tactics. That means thousands of new people that dont know what they are doingx end up playing, so like 1 out of 2 games is against someone totally cluless, that ends up hitting his own units with his pyromancer. I like spotting out people with gold accounts and playing them, because they are usually more serious abou the game and a better challenge.

Gore, i am sorry to say that the strategy you have described will have little to no effect on me. I would destroy your mages easy, if they are on the same side as my turle, and if they are oposite my turtle i could easily snipe them to death.
Also, i know the chanty very well, it would be very hard for people to use her effectively against me.

The grey turtle still pwns the rush, hands down. I used to rush, it's waaay too unreliable... you need turn one just to have an even game at best.
ent, your overconfidence in the scout single handedly sniping multiple mages is kind of funny.... seeing how you'll get one before your scout is down.
That and you actually replying to a post made over a year ago :)
