So IHOP is having the all you can eat pancake special.
So, naturally, I went to IHOP to test out my stomach. I ordered the all you can eat pancakes with hashbrowns/eggs/sausage, but i gave my sausage away.
Basically, I ate 8 pancakes. I was told by my waitress that the record was 21 pancakes for this particular establishment today. I was humiliated at coming in so short of this.
So, how many pancakes can you handle?

Your the only person in TAO who can get away with making stupid ass threads like this. But I love it. I can eat probably 5, maybe 6 before I pass out. I'd have to starve myself for a LONG time to get to 21...

Starving yourself for a long period would allow you to eat less, not more......
If I knew I was going for a record, I'd be prepared, and would probably do anywhere around 15. Unprepared 6-10.

If I was unprepared I'd probably eat about 3 or 4. I'm not a big eater. I don't enjoy eating at all, I treat it like a necessity. Why would starving make me eat less?

The stomach is pliable. When you eat nothing or close to it, the stomach shrinks in size, making a smaller place for you to "store" food before it is digested.
Professional eaters have a larger stomach because they gorge themselves constantly, whioch in effects "stretches" the stomach to a larger size. Gorging obver stime makes your stomache HUGE.
Then, right before a contest you stop ewating, making you have a very large empty stomach able to store lots of food.

Yeah, i wasn't prepared.
I also let the guilt set in. I could have finished up the 9 I was given for sure if I wasn't worried about getting fat.

Is there a reason why you aren't mod? Or have you declined an offer? Your pretty much one of the most respected people in TAO period.

While this is true, before a day before a big competition the professional eaters will just drink lots of water --- they won't eat solids.

No, your not dude. Your one of the coolest people on this game. I've been around TAO for awhile and I see your posts. Nothing you say has been unfair or particularly harsh and you don't really lie. I mean shit if your not a mod I don't see why uniquinous is no offense. You both have duplicate personalities almost. Not afraid to point out the blatant truth with a twist of humor in it.

I can't believe I missed this thread the first time around. I'm fascinated by food eating contests. Several thoughts here...
1. February 12, 2008 is National Pancake Day - it's been moved a week after Fat Tuesday so that it won't fall on the same day as Super Tuesday. I say National Pancake Day should take priority over the Nation's primaries, but no one asked me. Anyway, show up at IHOP on February 12 and you get a free shortstack of 3 flapjacks. You hear that, all you i-need-a-sponsor-for-a-five-buck-gold-membership cheapos? Free pancakes! I'd love to issue some sort of a challenge here, but I have no doubt that Pun would pwn me - perhaps even flawless me - in a pancake eating contest. Too much syrupy stuff in one sitting makes me go UGALDUFRFUG.
2. The Nathan's International July Fourth Hot Dog Eating Contest, televised on espn, is quality entertainment. I can't understand how those skinny Japanese dudes put away all those hot dogs in rapid-fire minibites. Check it out here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnDjpLDMxRM).
3. The night before our first football game, the team gathered at a local all-you-can-eat smorgasbord craphole restaurant for a meal. Everyone threw money on the table to encourage one of our common-sense-challenged buddies to drink a whole bottle of tobasco sauce (the big bottle, not the mini). As this nubhat was drinking the tobasco and his eyes were watering, causing him to squint, most of us pulled our money back off the table and walked away. He came away from the experience with about four bucks and some change - not even enough for a one-month goldZ0rZ. Good times!
4. One of my favorite movie scenes of all time goes like this (let's see who's first to post the movie):
Luke: I can eat fifty eggs.
Dragline: Nobody can eat fifty eggs.
Society Red: You just said he could eat anything.
Dragline: Did you ever eat fifty eggs?
Luke: Nobody ever eat fifty eggs.
Prisoner: Hey, Babalugats. We got a bet here.
Dragline: My boy says he can eat fifty eggs, he can eat fifty eggs.
Loudmouth Steve: Yeah, but in how long?
Luke: A hour.
Society Red: Well, I believe I'll take part of that wager.
