View Full Version : How to be an effective poster

Posting on forums is the most effective way to get known. As always, there’s a smart way to do this and a less smart way. Your goal is to use the smart way.
Once you’ve created an account, make a Introduction thread Here (http://70.84.36.198/forum/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=5). When you make your introduction, don’t ramble but tell a little about yourself. Be sure to spend a little time every single day contributing to the various threads. Posting a contribution to a thread can take as little as a minute or two so you should easily be able to post 6 or 7 in about 15 minutes. Now, don’t post anything unless you have real value to contribute. But assuming you have something valuable to say, you could build up hundreds of posts on a particular forum within a few months.
The number of post is right under your avatar. First, try to get over 50. Then 100. Then 500. And then 1000. As you accumulate more posts, the other people spending time on that forum will give you more respect. They’ll know you’re a regular contributor and an established member of the community.
When you’ve established some trust with the other forum contributors, start your own threads. This is a great solution to the fact that your contributions to other threads can quickly get lost in the mounting replies. If your post is number 17 of 32 total replies, most people will miss your brilliance as they scroll down to the bottom. Instead, you can start your own thread so your message is always sitting right there at the top. It virtually guarantees that anyone reading the thread will notice your piece of it.
It’s also worth noting that threads get pushed down the list as other people respond to other threads. Every time someone contributes to a thread, it puts that particular thread back at the very top, and that’s where all the traffic is. So if no one has contributed to your thread in a while, that might be a good time to log on and post another comment to your own thread, pushing it back to the top of the pile.

Pft, you must be a posting genius or something knowing all that after a month here.
How about, start as a CAU noob, learn the english language from reading the forum, start using proper grammar and rock everyone at the game throughout your whole career.
Or as woger did, start as a CAU noob, make unoriginal threads, start being funny, leave this place at your peak to never be forgotten.
People who do it your way are multi accounters mostly, especially Hulky.
Edit: And bumping your own threads is really annoying, that is something only Punishment does.
Errr.... Good thread. Though. :blush2:

Welcome.
How about don't use two different words, with the same meaning, in the same context when making a post.
But eh, I don't want to argue and altercate with you.

I didn't read it. AU's one tip on being effective poster is that no one reads long posts.

I don't like this. Being a good poster/forumer isn't like this. That way we get more people who are totally artificial and just do whatever the hell they think will get them rep or whatever they want. (kinda like this thread). If people actually use this it will only make their posts all similar. You can't tell someone how to be a good poster.

{These following things that will be said in this post will be coming from this posters mind...}
1. I don't give respect to people, because of ttheir number of post's nor do others, it depends on how they act and how I see he's treated, the rep and post's mean nothing!....
2. You are only 40% right about when you will be ready to make threads, but mainly the only time you are ready to make threads that aren't gonna make people dislike you, is to think before typing(think before talking) know what your gonna say, plus if it sounds like it will be cool things that are here today, like a soldier with a bazooga unit thing, then it sure won't be a good idea to post it....
There are people who don't have to post threads and still gain respect ya know!
The main thing for someone to know if they are ready is if, they are smart enough to not be dumb and to know what they are saying.....after your cool and liked alot it doesn't really matter what thread or kind you post, unless you spam the place with it :tongue2:

You dont get respect from your post count, you get respect for what you do, someone with 1 post could be more respectable then someone with 999,999,999
And depending on somethings bumping ur thread is alright, but if you are basically the onlyone that posts there then dont double post to bump it...

I just made it for these people who post like 12 different threads to ask like one question. I didn't mean to start a situation with this thread.
