well, this is just a little thing, but maybe the player could choose what side of the board they wanted to play on in settings, and not have it depend on which side they choose when challenging someone to a match.
its just kind of my pet peev, playing on the far side of the board, (no idea why, dont ask) and this is my remedy to it.

uhhmm... u could just always choose the lower/close side and wait for ppl to challenge u... *shrugs* though i see merrit to the idea

lol, its not the most practical thing, just something that could improve the game, in a very small way :D

I think a better idea would be to rotate the board in-game. In chess you can often see things you might not see otherwise by looking at the game from your opponent's point of view.

Also, I'm so used to playing the bottom, that when I play the top I get a bit disoriented.

Lol, I guess I'm the only one who feels very disoriented when playing on the bottom. The only problem with this is, that both players view the same thing. Might be kinda hard to implement, but I can see how some people would like this idea.

It is, in essence, 2 God-like people playing a game of chess. Each team sees the same thing, but only controls half the pieces...
