Grand Slam #3: Random Units - Signups!

That is correct! Sign ups for the next great grand slam tournament start today. There is no set date for sign ups to end. As grand slams require a double elimination bracket style tournament, there can only be 64 participants. So everyone has the chance to participate, every entrant will be loosely ranked according to their skill. The lowest ranked members will play preliminary games until we have just 64 people. I will then make brackets according to people's skill, and the tournament will begin!

Edit: Brackets won't be randomized, and this is obviously TAL Approved.

Fortunately, I got two offers by PM from very capable people, either one could run this and do a fine job I'm sure. As one of them is on the signups list, I'm going to ask Greed (who is not on the signups list) to take over until Bax comes back.

Please do the following three things.

1. Send me your e-mail address via PM, so I can e-mail you the excel documents.
2. Go through the thread to make sure no one else was forgotten, like allstar was.
3. Make the seeds.

The way you ought to do this is to look up the results from the one day random units tournaments. The winners should be seeded one and two. From there, use a combination of the GS1 seeds and the runners up etc from the one day tournaments. Feel free to use your common sense a bit to try to make it good. Once you have the seeds ready, PM it to me and I'll take a look. Once I approve it (which may or may not include making some changes), I'll send it back to you and give you the green light to get it started.

Once Bax returns, he will be eligible to take over again (though unless he returns in a day or two, he won't be able to change the seeds).

This isn't really a style that's played too much, although it's considered a style deto. Seedings will go according to people's skill at gameplay, and seeing as how good they are in all 3-styles. I think Greed will also take in consideration stuff such as how people have done in this Random Units tourneys (such as Mags!).

It was actually a pretty complicated process because I had to first consider who did well in the Random Units Tournaments, then regular freestyle, followed by total points, and the last players were basically a wish-wash of reputation and skill.

Yeah, otherwise it will be very hard to control each round. I must imagine there will be due dates for when Round 2 starts, and stuff like that, right?

Well, technically yes. But it doesn't apply with everyone. Go to GS1 and GS2 and you'll see that it wasn't like that in all the matches.
