Grand Slam #4 Signups

Mag asked me to post this because he was having trouble making it work.
Behold! The tournament we've all been waiting for! The spectacle of the year has finally arrived, in the form of our final Grand Slam of this years TAL season. The Dropless Grey Grand Slam is here, and here to stay. :cool:

First and foremost, for clarification, the Rules:

GS4: The Dropless Grey Grand Slam

1) All matches are to be played dropless grey.

2) Double Elimination: This means if you lose 1 game, you're still alive and have a chance at winning the tournament! You will be transfered to the losers brackets where you can fight your way to the top once again! This also means there may be some crucial rematches, so don't be surprised if you have to play the same person twice.

3) PM's: The best way for me to know your activity is for you to post what you've been doing. Please send arrangement PM's to your opponents and post those PM's in this thread. This will better secure you against disqualification (see below), if the opponent agrees to a time that they do not show up to, or neglects to post anything at all.

4) Battle Reports: For the benefit of me, for brackets, and for the benefit of the reading of the forum, please report your games as battle reports. If available, please use a screen shot. If not, simply describe the match up. It is the winner's responsibility to make a battle report unless otherwise specified. Battle Reports should be formatted as follows:

Match up: Player A / Player B
Winner: Player A
Comments: Blah Blah Blah.
Screen shot: (Optional)

This will allow me to more easily comprise battle reports and continue the brackets. The best way to annoy the Tournament Host (me!) is to not follow the format. Annoying the Tournament Host = bad.

5) Disqualifications: Players can be disqualified for the following:

[1] Inactivity. If a game is not played, the least active person will be determined and will count toward one loss.
[2] Violation of TOS. Fraudulent screen shot, trolling, swearing, spamming, the works. This will not be tolerated and result in disqualification from the entire tournament and this years TAL competition.
[3] 0 Tolerance Policy on personal insults. 100% tolerance policy on trash talk. I withhold liberty to make this judgment throughout the entire tournament. Warnings will be issued before disqualifications. Disqualifications will be treated as TOS violation.
[4] I withhold the liberty to remove anyone from this tournament as I see fit.


6)Rounds.

Rounds will be 7 days in length in the Winners Bracket, and 5 days in the Losers Bracket. to include at least one weekend day during every round. Activity disqualifications for unplayed games will happen at the specified time. Due to potentially several preliminaries, round 1 may be extended 3 days. If both opponents have completed a round, you may certainly go ahead in rounds to complete games, you don't need to wait until the turnover date.

7) Prizes!

1st: 12 TAL Points
2nd: 7 TAL Points
3rd/4th: 4 TAL Points
5th-8th: 1TAL Point

So if 74 people sign up, then we must get rid of ten in the preliminary round, hence 20 people will have to play a preliminary match, single elimination. Those 20 would be the lowest seeds. So fret not Meph, you're in this thing.

16 points would be a ridiculous prize. That would almost single-handedly place you in the Top 8 and I'm not sure winning one grey tourney should qualify you as one of the top 8 players. I doubt the number of TAL points will increase.

If by some miracle we hit 128, I'd have to talk to Mith and meat about a points increase. As it stands, GS's are "special" tournaments and therefore worth more. I think it would simply mean that everyone has to play a preliminary round, but that's just my 2sense.

why not just make a 128 man bracket? a few of the very top seeds would get byes if all positions were not filled. This would require a bit more work on the part of the bracket maker, but why not? I think that it would be a blast and just do away with prelim games for lesser known players.

I'll be asking a few respected grey players to send me rough seedings for the entries. From this, I can work out rough seedings for the tournament. It won't be perfect by any means, but, it's better than doing this randomly.
