My corner turt vs. his center. He played bad at the start.. I played worse. He should have gone up a unit, but my witch blocked allowing me to take his knight for my witch. We danced around for a little bit with me providing a little more damage to his knights. He put a lot of pressure on me with his witch and received a saving sassy side block. I decided that it was best for me to attack as I had the knight advantage. He attacked at the same time, but i guess I just ended up doing the better job. A few mistakes by him at the end sealed the deal for me.

Oh, I almost forgot. -130 blocking for a scout is a very big deal, as is -20 for a pyro. This needs to be recreated as well (which could result in needing multiple tries). I would recommend damaging everything else, then front-hitting the pyro (and then healing), and then side-hitting the scout but having it block. It could be a pain, but lemon deserves it.

His wardless center vs. my wards center. I went for his scout and witch first trying to put him on the defensive, but he sacrificed his witch and pyro for my witch in order to stop that. From there it was mostly a knight war with neither of us having the ability to really break through. He had quite a few sub 50% saving blocks in the middle of the game which helped him quite a bit. My luck came in a couple consecutive knight blocks that were pretty useless to me. I ended up attacking when he went for my cleric and overpowered him with my remaining knights. A 41% assassin kill helped a lot and my pressure allowed me to save my cleric as well.

Second, I think TACTO's setup was made to pwn a center setup quite easily, what Isaac does pretty much screws him up, because TACTO normally sacrifies his witch for BW, and then makes the game real easy, Isaac instead has witch one place down to protect cleric from possible flankings. I may not be a pro for Grey, and know that Isaac is better than me, but I know that having a witch one place up has it's reasons.

I, myself, took Mith's advice of changing pyro for witch, so the trade would benefit me. :)

First, why don't you use wardless? :p

Never really wanted to experiment with it. In order to use it to its maximal potential, one would need to train with it pretty seriously, so I don't use it for the same reason I haven't learned to turtle well: I don't want to invest the time necessary to master it. Using wards is more my style. Plus, if you go wardless, you risk a wardless vs wardless game, which has got to be the most boring style possible. I don't question the overall superiority of the wardless set though.

No... everyone was originally seeded, from 1 to 104. Then seeds were filled into the brackets, and the remaining players played their polar opposites - highest vs lowest, descending.

Lemon d/c at the end of game two. I think I had him.

My full scout, full knight, LW, and 2 hp knight with +47 blocking vs. his 8 bw, 28 knight with +14, and full assassin. I'll post the s/s if needed.. but positioning favored me as well. His assassin was isolated from his knight and bw and all three of my units were in range of the two.

Yeah.. lemon said that I had it in the lobby. I didn't get the s/s but Mith was there. And lemon should get the videos up soon. I took a lot of chances in the first game after his witch block but made a few too many mistakes. Second game he got another witch block. Both games I would have been up a unit if not for the stupid blocks. Boooo witches.

Yeah. I was lost, unless I got stupidly lucky, and it would be quite painful to set back. Fun games.

edit: I thought going for my witch in the first game was very risky. It had +block, also if you hit your knight was very weak, so its quite likely that i'd have hunted it down. Well, whatever. Videos will be up when I get back from my vacations, i've got them in my DVD :).

Just Hool and TACTO. Im not sure that myself and Pun would have really made a difference in this tournament. Our grey skillz arent all that hawt. Not really a tainted victory though, AFO did his thing.

Pun's actually a pretty good grey, and it's more about the player than the style. Anyone good at this game can become good at any style because they understand the concepts and strategies of this game. Detonation for instance, sure he was seeded like 25th, but you never hear about him being a pro grey and stuff. He's a great player and so he can execute with any style well. Experience can certainly play a factor, look at lemon and AFO. But look how far deto got.
