GS4: The Grey Open

Finally, all set and ready to go. :bigsmile:

Just a quick recap of the rules, and guidelines for this tournament, then we'll be underway.

GS4: The Dropless Grey Grand Slam

1) All matches are to be played dropless grey.

2) Double Elimination: This means if you lose 1 game, you're still alive and have a chance at winning the tournament! You will be transfered to the losers brackets where you can fight your way to the top once again! This also means there may be some crucial rematches, so don't be surprised if you have to play the same person twice.

3) PM's: The best way for me to know your activity is for you to post what you've been doing. Please send arrangement PM's to your opponents and post those PM's in this thread. This will better secure you against disqualification (see below), if the opponent agrees to a time that they do not show up to, or neglects to post anything at all.

4) Battle Reports: For the benefit of me, for brackets, and for the benefit of the reading of the forum, please report your games as battle reports. If available, please use a screen shot. If not, simply describe the match up. It is the winner's responsibility to make a battle report unless otherwise specified. Battle Reports should be formatted as follows:

This will allow me to more easily comprise battle reports and continue the brackets. The best way to annoy the Tournament Host (me!) is to not follow the format. Annoying the Tournament Host = bad.

5) Disqualifications: Players can be disqualified for the following:

[1] Inactivity. If a game is not played, the least active person will be determined and will count toward one loss.
[2] Violation of TOS. Fraudulent screen shot, trolling, swearing, spamming, the works. This will not be tolerated and result in disqualification from the entire tournament and this years TAL competition.
[3] 0 Tolerance Policy on personal insults. 100% tolerance policy on trash talk. I withhold liberty to make this judgment throughout the entire tournament. Warnings will be issued before disqualifications. Disqualifications will be treated as TOS violation.
[4] I withhold the liberty to remove anyone from this tournament as I see fit.


6)Rounds.

Rounds will be 7 days in length in the Winners Bracket, and 5 days in the Losers Bracket. to include at least one weekend day during every round. Activity disqualifications for unplayed games will happen at the specified time. Due to potentially several preliminaries, round 1 may be extended 3 days. If both opponents have completed a round, you may certainly go ahead in rounds to complete games, you don't need to wait until the turnover date.

Preliminary matches will have 5 days to be completed. After these 5 days, DQs will take place, and Round 1 will officially begin!

7) Prizes!

1st: 12 TAL Points
2nd: 7 TAL Points
3rd/4th: 4 TAL Points
5th-8th: 1TAL Point

We're playing a prelim match for the gs4, grey. I can play tomorrow(sunday) anytime between about 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Pacific time(GMT-7 with daylight savings time). Monday through friday I'll put any time between 2:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on the table for you to pick from. I'll specifically dedicate 8:00 p.m. through 10:00 p.m., though, and will be here through those times each night monday through friday to get the game played. Next weekend, should it take that long, I'll play any time that you can give me with at least 24 hours notice.

I'm GMT -4 or EST. Daylight savings time in effect, so I'm normally GMT -5. It's 12:07 as I send this.

I'm VERY flexible when it comes to getting on. Pretty much any time from 1:00 PM to 10:30 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM to 2:00 AM on weekends. Fridays are the only day I am not available that long, the difference being I can play from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Check the spreadsheet on the first page. I think you're seeded around the Top20, can't exactly remember and I'm at the gf's so I don't have the spreadsheet available to me.

Monday - Friday

Thursday and Friday June 5th and 6th im not sure if i will be able to play as i have a biology practical exam coming up on those days.

Comments: His corner turt vs. my center. We danced around at the beginning getting a feel for each other, then we had a knight duel, which brought our knights to 1 hit before death. I was able to hit on a 67 % shot, then he tried one around 50 or less I think, and mine blocked. After that I got a frontal on his scout which just put the pressure on him big time. From there I was able to position my units good and was able to pull off a win.

Sidenote: It would have taken longer but he made a mistake in not killing my chanty when he had the chance. By not doing that I was able to freeze two of his last remaining attacking units to close it out. Even so, it was well played. Good game Sniper.

after getting my butt handed to me in by stiv an hour before, i was worried, and ooppoo rushed me with witch and barrier. set placement didnt allow me to unbarrier, and i went for a knight with knight lw combo. after a heal each, i got hit by witch on scout again and he went for scout on scout frontal. didnt happen, which put him in a vulnerable postion. meanwhile he chantied my knight and his. my scout wasnt in position to help, so pyro man to the rescue. got his scout down to 13, and got his witch, and also took one of his knights he tried to rush in. rather then playing it out, he saw where we were headed and surrendered with honor (which is more than some can say). Dont like these play by plays but Mag asked, and since he's the one running this great tourny, i will.

Times eh? Well I can* be on weekdays from 7-10PM** (All Times GMT) and most of the day on weekends generally from Midday right through the night until silly o' clock in the morning.

* Notice I said "Can"? I mean just that. I "Can" not I "Will"...I'm not gonna be sat online all through these times, if we prearrange to be there in these time slots I'll be there but don't just log on randomly at some point during those times with no warning beforehand and expect me to be sat on waiting for you, sometimes in my spare time I like to do something other then TAO all the time, like go outside, or wash the gimp.

Comments: Opposite sides, my turtle against his very defensive mage infested nest thing. I went on the offensive, brought my units to his which were waiting in his turtle. Got a 40% knight frontal hit on his archer which gave me the offensive pressure for most of the game. Basically I had him bottled up, but he played very well until he let his knights open up and I was able to get one of my knights in on his 2nd corner BW. He got 2 incredible counterattacks during the game. He hit one of my knights 2 times in a row (on the 2nd hit my knight had +105) to kill it, and got another 2 hit combo on my other remaining knight to severely weaken and eventually kill it after. I got his archer and cleric, and was able to use my chanty to finish his 3 remaining knights. A very long and good game Wisher.
