View Full Version : Apoc. Board Online

I stumbled, quite literally, across an excellent TAO style game...and yet it's not TAO.

Apocalypse Board Online:
..:: Apocalypse Board Online ::.. MMORPG Tactique en Flash (http://www.apocalypse-board.com/) (home page is currently in French, I am helping with English translation)

Here are the forums:
www.apocalypse-board.com/forum (http://www.apocalypse-board.com/forum)

The Low-down on the game:

Tactics style battling...but far, far different. From the couple of battles I've played with developers/moderators.

It has a somewhat storyline, and you start out with 4 characters, which you can level up. There are also unit, guilds, blacksmith, and other shops, meant to develop your characters.

has INCREDIBLE potential to turn out to be quite possibly the next clan-style battle game! I had heard accusations that it was too much like TAO, it is very much its own game, more like Final Fantasy Tactics !

After several, several games, I will stick to my original thoughts:

It has incredible potential. I am talking with the developers about making it more fair for the newer players, and having the unit guide translated into English. Provided, it is still Levels > Skill, but in time, this could change as character max out or whatnot. Could become incredible.

NOOB GUIDE:

Certain special blows are launched only while clicking on the red box under the launcher.
The turn finishes after the action of the unit or if the sand glass reaches 0.
End of combat:
The combat finishes when a player does not have any more units concerned or if a player leaves the combat.
A screen of end of combat appears, it indicates the gained points of experiment and the current level for each unit as well as the number of units that each one overcame at the time of the combat.

MAJOR GLITCH LIST SO FAR:

They may put in back into Beta testing until the LF gang's glitch list is fixed. doubtful, they wish to release it for the japan expo. Thanks SOOOO much guys for coming over and exposing several things that needed to be done. The Beta stage didn't last for long enough and hopefully what we have brought to attention, and what we are bringing to attention will be fixed. The major glitches to me currently are:

Baedal vs. Fortress/Knight glitch

If endgame is Baedal vs. Knight/Fort then game disallows attack options for both players. This has been noted in rare cases in the middle of a game

Demons > Angels unit-wise:

Demons have an immediate advantage unit-wise starting the game, but I have heard some players say that the Angels have their own strengths if used properly...although Angelic movement is 3,3,5,5 and demonic is 4,4,5,5 ...they both need to be 4,4,5,5

Unit Guide/Translation/Noob Help

Noobs aren't really given much to run by when introduced to the game. Although this is the same way in TAO, I hear alot of griping about it. A game guide in English will be fully translated soon to my knowledge, or I will be going about it myself should the other devs wish me to do it.

And finally....Player balancing:

Older/players in more battles tend to have a unit advantage, NOT a tactical advantage. This means that the players whos units are higher levels have an insanely unfairly easy win vs. "n00bs". I suspect we will implement either Tier-based battling, or level the exp off alot better. More on this to come as we figure it out....

There's already a thread for this, unfortunately.

We'd been waiting for it to come out.
Kind of.

You buy from them from the "Judge".

The game is pretty bad; controls are bad, laggy, and the people who play it the most will be the best.

Yeah, Crimson Pheonix had more units and better levels on them, thus, my units dealt a whopping 8 whilst his dealt 20 or more.

Plus, once you start losing units he gets more "turns" than you.

just like any other mmorpg people who play the most win. Well they win the game, but in actually their losing.

Because they enjoy the game at and get better at it?

Yes, in the long run they're losing.
I hate people who say shit like that, if someone likes a game, and plays it a lot, they deserve to be better than people who just joined.

No! NO! TAO is NOT like that (except for the Gold Account Upgrade)! Which is why I like it..

Duraza
07-06-2008, 02:29 PM
Yeah, level balancing and whatnot is in the works. Basically, if you click someones avatar, you can read what level they are, and not bother playing them. There'll be something like a /stat option soon, also. Expect lots of updates come monday. it IS mmorpg, and when guilds come around, the game gets fun....have some imagination. Build your own wars, etc.
And read the noob guide/feel free to ask me questions.

Why should I care about this game and spend time trying it out?

It has active staff, you can buy/trade/sell units. You can buy things to make your units more powerful, the admins actually speak on the forums..for now, at least.
And the mods aren't power hungry. ^_^

ok, here's where you come in....

The game is young, and impressionable. Currently it has all the moderators it needs, so don't go powermongering. What it lacks though, are people who wish to use their imagination and turn it into something else. It was meant to be a war to save mankind from the demons/angels. Therefore, when guilds are up, I expect massive guild wars between powerful guilds, land grabs, territory fights, and overall...what it was supposed to be. We need Guild Leaders and players who are willing to use their time and become vaunted leaders in the history of this game...leaders who gathered other players around them to create a game and a guild that wouldn't be stopped....we need RPers of the top level. I challenge you all to bring that to the game. Make your own fun until the real fun is updated.

Oh, and it has active developers. New units on a regular basis, new things to do...the lot.

Whatever you do, I advise you to put some restriction on this leveling thing. People can be horrible and keep playing the game to level up, and end up better than the actual more strategic players. When people start getting enough points to buy multiple Angels, I think many of the new players will be turned off.

trust me, experience in this particular area is high and will be taken care of....

Not really...just different than TAO. It's more Final Fantasy Tactics than anything, by far. We're also hoping to implement:

-optional 2v2 PvP on bigger boards

-World map expansion to higher detail, meaning: Guilds can attack other guild fortresses in a town, etc.....

-Guild Wars in general between guilds will be available pending the Guild update....

-new avatars will be available pending tommorrow's update or sometime during the next week, presumably.....I have the chart for those....

-New units will be available more often than not...Units will be a major thing that we will be updating constantly....

-new playboard options, such as playing on a Volcano during a specialized Guild war, etc....

And all in all, alot of stuff....but all this stuff takes time to implement, and money....

So when paypal is up, buy blue orbs! I figured the cost of buying/creating a guild and getting access to some units is about the same as a single gold upgrade on TAO, perhaps a wee bit more.

Guilds themselves will involve members paying a fee to get into, set by the Guild leader, Guild wars, territory/land ownership with benefits up to new units weekly for members, etc....tons, tons of fun!

Yeah.... I played it a lot, when it was still up.
And after playing this, you're right its nothing like how T:G was when it was playable. But I know Xerent had a lot of ideas, that sounded similar in the description... Like the fact that its a TBG but you can still kinda "take over the world." And I know there would have been a bit of a leveling up system. But rather than your characters, your EKG or something like that... I don't know, I think he is working on something completely different from that now so what evs.

Guilds are up. Huge bonuses from them, lots, lots of fun. Sero created the first non-mod guild, and anyone is welcome to join provided they are demonic and can afford a 5k ;)

Also, until paypal is fully fixed, gems will be added by hand. If you do buy gems, email either myself or raphael and we will check paypal to make sure you in fact did buy them, then add them to you :)
