alright, rather than a unit this is a feature you can opt to select while arranging your units:
At the start of the game one of your units is a shadow with a question mark; the unit still has the same abilities and range, but your opponent doesn't know what it is. once you move/attack (w/ the unit), or the unit is hurt it is revealed but until that point it remains questioned. This will cause your opponent to completely rethink their strategy as they dont know if you have anything from a DT there too a mere pyro.

well hopefully they'd be able to tell if it was a dragon or not ;)

I think you misunderstood. Basically, the unit would just be a big black blob, not a blackened version of the unit that is really there. (Hey, say "Big Black Blob" three times fast.)
Well, I don't really like the idea, it is not unoriginal at least. If implemented, it would be either completely useless, or do nothing but stall the game.
For the most part, it would be useless. Skilled players could guess or at least narrow down what the shadowed unit is to a few pieces based on its position and what other units you have in play.
Not-so-skilled players would simply not attack, stalling the game, because they don't know if the shadowed unit is the one unit capable of stopping their attack plan.
And new players wouldn't give a damn and just play normally. Again, making it useless.

sorry what i meant was the dragon is teh only unit that takes up two spaces on field, so if your opponent has a blob and only has 8 other units you can be pretty sure its a dragon

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with Chess on this thread. I mean, I guess its a good idea but it's kinda've stupid only because of what Hybrid and Chess have said. You would know if its a dragon if they have 8 other characters on the field. Chess is right because of... well, everything tbh (to be honest).

This would be a very tricky situation if you don't move said unit for quite some time. However, your opponent can easily have it revealed with their Scout in 2-3 turns.
Also, would the shadow be in the rough shape of the unit, or just a blob-like shadow?

I think that if the unit gets attacked but blocks it still shound not be revealed. This would help a blobbed LW/bw..and other high blocking units
