I'm having some trouble deciding between jobs.

My current job is as a cook/dishwasher, kind of goes 50/50, and I make $8.85/h, which is $.25 more than min-wage. I've been working there for around 26-28 months, and I've come to really like the people who I work with. And cooking is something that I like to do.

The other job is working at a Mr. Sub that just opened.

Starting price: $11.00.
Tons of my friends would be working there, I could get more mobile hours, so that if I have to do a certain thing (e.g. football, weightlifting) I don't have to take off the evenings or mornings entirly. Which is what I'm forced to do at my current job. Both are within 2 minutes of walking, and I'm not sure wether this would be a good job, but I think it would be.

I have no doubt that I would get hired since I have working in two restruants and have the characteristics of a good worker, but I just don't want to leave my current job because of the people there.

And I know you're going to say "Nigga take the job with more $!" Mafia. So no, go away. My thread. Bad.

Well, if your having problems paying for things and need financial increase then I would choose the Mr.Sub job. But also remember (which is what I got from your statement) is that it's not a guaranteed job. If you like the people you work with and your making good enough money then I would stay. On the other hand there is benefits in the Mr. Sub job including friends working there (which is really important to me because I don't like working with strangers). There are good things either way, you just have to figure out which gives you more... good? I fail at grammar. Anyway if it was me I would choose the Mr. Sub job if it was guaranteed.

It basicly is guarenteed (yeah, screws me over too :S), but I make good enough money.
I have to buy my own lunches for school and pay for my own activities, but I still have $900 in the bank, if I hadn't of bought my peice of shit labtop I would be up another 700.

And then there's my plasma :ninja:

However when I graduate I am going to need atleast $5000 for my 'roadtrip'.
I'm going backpacking across Canada.

Dude, I seriously laughed my ass off nonstop in real life for like 30 seconds. Not because you are witty in any way, shape, or form, but after seeing the salary of both jobs, I was scrolling down to quote you and say "Nigga take the job with more $!" but I saw your last sentence and proceeded to bawl like some kind of barbaric brute.

You did need to explain that what your talking about it CA currency.

But i honestly would go with the 11.00 one. I work at quiznos and i get paid 7.00. If i got offered a dishwasher job for 8, id take it. Its all about moving up the chain regardless of friends/co-workers.

Yeah, I am aiming towards the Mr. Sub and my resume is all in order.
I'm just going to miss cooking on a daily basis, if you know what I mean.
It's rare to find a teenager with a job that they actually like to do, and I'm one of them.

I agree, it was hard for me finding a job because I didn't "like" it. But then I realized that money is needed whether you like the job or not. The most important 2 things for me is $$$ and friends that work there. If I got both of those I would be there in a flash.

Which job has the hottest girls working there? When still in school this can be a valid job choice question.

AC-TUALLY, "union booty" makes it sound like her ass protects working class Americans' wages and benefits.

;)

If you like the people at both jobs, and both are within close proximity to your home, these factors cancel each other out. The only real difference then is that one job pays more and has more flexible hours. Obvious choice for me.

You've been at your current job for over two years, and you say you like it, but you're not planning on staying there long term. Right?
We're talking about a part-time, high school job.
So this Mr. Sub is brand new. Just opened. You'd be starting at over two dollars an hour more than the place you've been at for more than two years. I think that's significant, especially if you have to worry about filling up a gas tank.
You say you'd be working with a bunch of your friends, and they'll offer you a more flexible schedule, making it easier to do sports and whatever else.
Sounds pretty good to me. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

All I have to say is take it. You'll have friends working there and since it's a sub place the atmosphere will most likely be terrific.

I've decided to go and get the job, and work at the current place if they call me in, since we have a very small amount of staff.
Don't know how I'm going to break the news to my boss, considering that she just said she was closing down the resturant early to throw a party for me on Wednesday :S

That sucks man... Sounds like a great place to work, but you have to look out for you, just keep that in mind.

Something else you may want to think of, though it sounds like it may be too late. It is not always a wise decision to work with close friends. Especially, if you end up being in charge of them. I have had this particular situation and it turned nasty when it came time to give corrective actions. Something else that may help is, when you do tell your boss about you leaving, explain that your hurting for cash and that it is hard to pass up and $11/hr job. If she can afford it and wants you bad enough, she may cough up the money.

Either way, good luck in your choice.
