My friend was trying to create a forum for some such nonsense, and he asked me for help for a website. SO, not knowing THAT much about forums and such, I was wondering if anyone could give me some good websites for hosting forums. Free or cheap would be nice, but not necessary. Just gonna ask you guys, since you have a tendency to make a forum for every big tourney.

phpbb is pretty good and free. It is powerful enough to do what you need, has some good things you can do to prevent bots from joining easily and it's free. Can't emphasize that enough.

The one I usually use is setbb.com and occasionally freewebs.com There both free, but I'm sure there are better forums hosters out there.

I'd talk to IROK (Nitanius Noland) about a forum he has that is widely used for multiple purposes. He has had some success with it. He's your man to talk to if you have questions. I used freeforums.com for a website my friend made for CPF.

vbulletin is by far a superior product, at least from the user side that I have seen. I haven't fooled around with the administrator side. This site is vbulletin. It does cost though.
