No no, it took 40 minutes for a mod to log on. In other words they had 40 minutes of spamming before they got banned.

Then Dan clicked "mass delete posts" on their account and they were all deleted.

However, you are right- I did exagerate a bit. First you have to log in to the moderator CP, then ban them (three accounts so that increases the time spent as well), then go to their public profiles, click view all posts, then select all and then click delete. So depending on internet connection speed, probably more like 30 seconds. My bad.

Then you have to see where other users, who may not have actually been necroing but just responding in necro'd threads have been posting.... figure out their names... go through each thread that's left and manually delete specific posts...

Yes, dan didn't bother doing that. I just had to do that now. Fortunately there were only 4 threads which were replied to before they got banned, so that's an extra 2 minutes or so. It's easy to recognise a necroed thread if you go to the right screen, so they didn't take long to find.

All told, they wasted about 3 minutes of moderator time plus as long as it took for Dan and I to post asking people not to reply to idiotic necroes.

While they wasted about an hour of their life. Each.

Well, they chose the wrong time to do it. 2am American time when no idiots were around to reply to the necroed threads. Silly. Even if Dan wasn't around, I'd have got them in the morning because of comparative timezones. For maximum effect, they should have waited for peak time, say early evening American time. Obviously they would have had to wait for no mods to be online, but since we use invisible mode now, the chances of being caught straight off are reasonably high.

Unfortunately LF has been a bit dead recently, so there isn't really a peak time to necrospam any more.

That said, LF has a "recent posts" page where you can see the dates of the first post in a thread as well, so necros are easy to spot and even easier to deal with if the mass-delete doesn't get them, so even if the necros weren't spotted for a few hours it would still only take about 5-10 minutes tops to clean up.

Most people play on both FPS and Legends nowadays. They both have something to offer that's slightly different. There aren't many top players that are dedicated to playing on only one server. Saying that Legenders are invading FPS is rather silly as the "invasion" is in both directions, plus invasion implies negativity.

We already have. Our first season is just coming to an end with the Masters tournament. Sniper, machiavelli, myself, Zadico, xEaglex, AFO, uall and S3RO are in it; we finished top of the rankings. Of course, since people just can't get enough tournaments, they still come here as well.

Actually using mozilla its really easy jsut go to forum index, control click on all the threads on the last 2 pages, then go aobut your business online and every few seconds or so switch to a tab cntrl+v your necro statement hit reply then close tab.

Lieu, I have noticed you are taking a lot of things about this game seriously lately. So seriously, in fact, that you are completely taking out the fun of the server rivalry. The best rivalry exists between those players who like people from the other server in the end. Rivalry should always be just an act that should work to pump you up and produce some good fun... same goes to trash talking. Yet there are some players like you, who do not understand the true concept of this and do not see through the act. And by taking it way too seriously you are taking the fun out of it.

So if you really want to be able to say that legenders suck and seriously mean it... you will have to truly believe that they do not suck at all and are a part of the gaming community that definitely makes the community here healthier and closer together relationship-wise.

Perhaps you should grasp the "legends do not exist" concept first, because it is quite easier since they can be found at this site: www.legendsforums.com

Mods are here to help the community, if you tell us what you think we should do in a threatening way, we might think that you are implying that we are just a bunch of lazy bums who do not know what to do and would never think of it ourselves. And some of us could find it a tad insulting. So worry about yourself more, work out, be social and take the game as a hobby, not as a life and death matter.

I love Legends and the people who play it, but the forums have little appeal because they are almost too strictly moderated on a server that has no moderation. On a side note, if you decided to go through with this co-forum enforcement dealy-o and also decided to ban all of the evil geniuses who did the necroing, it would be in bad taste. Making laws after a crime is committed specific to that instance and retroactively enforcing it is questionable.

007 necro'd around 9 threads in FPS for pure laughs. He got banned for it and now he's paying that price. But your acting like this is a huge deal when it's not. By paying attention to them.. they win.

I'm not crying (who cries over an internet forum? Sheesh) and I don't care about what happens here. I care about giving out meaningful punishments to people that break rules. A ban on LF is a meaningless punishment for an FPSer that never visits LF except to troll and an FPS ban is meaningless to someone like me that never visits here. However, a ban on both would be a meaningful punishment to everyone, except for people that don't use either forum but just want to cause trouble.

If you don't break rules, then you don't have to worry about it. Amirite? :)

Actually, because of the working relationship between the two and competitive nationalism each forum generates, it wouldn't be uncalled for to enforce things like spam attacks on both boards. Although, I personally could care less and enjoy spam attacks more than normal people. They really do make my day on slow work days.

The two games are seperate, any sort of punishment by FPS for something done on legends would be innapropriate. Your consern should be the well being of LF, and not policeing the internet. If the FPS staff agreed to taking any sort of action against them for an immature outbreak elsewhere, I'd be incredibly dissapointed in them.

The rule he was refering to being broke is a LF rule against shorthand language, which I must say is one of many ridiculous overreactions LF tends to have.

However, Bots and Unis points are quite valid. The forums ARE separate. But they are part of the same overall community. I wouldn;t expect 99.999% of the ridiculous bannings from LF to be cross-overable.... but something like deliberate spamming of either forum WOULD be a good thing to "help" each other out on.

I will never be in favor of cross server bans. Some people who legenders hate do nicely over here and vice-versa. Different communities + different rule basis = segregation from one another.

I seems the bans issued on Legends carry a lot less weight than any bans issued here. Our bans actually prevent people from doing stuff. Either that's because people don't care, or it's too easy to be banned. Or both.

Do I condone 100+ necrospams? Absolutely not. Do I think it was kind of funny? Sure. Am I going to ban them here because of it? Nope. Do I like question-talking? You bet. Do I think this problem will continue? Not really.

Sure. But there's also a line between superfluous insults and trolling. Just like there's a line between sexuality and vulgarity. Both of the formers aren't really against our rules, we just encourage people to distinguish that line. And if they can't, we show them it. And then if the cross it, we ban them.

I'm not trying to condemn your system at LF, it's not my place because I don't even post there more than twice a year. I'm just saying that for someone who used to hand out a lot of "random, gratuitous insults" yourself, I think you're turning a blind eye on someone who may actually be a good poster simply because they get controversial sometimes.

For those of you who have no sense of irony, let me explain things in full seriousness to you. TAO is a far bigger community with more servers and official forums and mods. The little brother is simply a term to reference the age of the servers. Legends is slightly older. Barely. Both TAO and Legends are full of brats despite what they think or how eloquent they speak (Even me {Especially me}) that all feel they are superior to the other. They're not. Neither one is superior in any way. If you think you are, you're mentally retarded and I forgive you because God made you that way(My apologies those with other religious beliefs). LF has definitely gotten wayyyyy less active over the last year. I started at FPS(with only a game account), moved to legends for the in-game gray perks, and now i stick around on their forums because of the friends i made over the years of playing. You get pretty used to the way it's run if that's how you were brought up.
