Server Reorganization

After playing on the various servers lately one thing is clear,

Banff has only 5 or 6 people on at a time,
and Army has about a floor or less, while GL has 2 floors or decent activity.

The amount of people playing tao since the start of 4 servers has decreased significantly, and it doesn't seem like there are enough players to support this many servers.

My suggestion is to cut down the amount of servers to 2, and have the gold server.

Then each player can move there golds to one of the two servers.

Whatever is done It is clear we have more servers then active players for them, changing names, changing the default server, isnt going to bring more players, it will just distribute them differently.

I have a gold on banff atm, and its nearly impossible to find any games. Is there really any justification for having the 3 normal servers when only 1 is active, and 1 semi-alive?

Only other suggestion would be to advertise the game more to bring in more players.

It sounds like a good idea. It really isn't all that fair that Banff gold members are facing a lack of activity.

Back in 04 when I only played in FPS(before my broke ass found legends), I played on Banff. I just came back over(less broke ^^) thanks to the recent legends drama trying to decide what server to make a new account on. I checked over the boards here to see which one i though would suit me best and heard that Banff has become almost dead. That was a major deterrent. I made my new account on GL since there'd be more opportunities for games.

I love this suggestion but i think i would prefer bludz suggestion because its all about server competition

no one cares about army

and GL has enough players as it is, they dont need more >.<

plus i highly doubt banff+GL would go to well

Good suggestion.

Look at legends, while it isn't booming as it used to be, there's always 2 full floors for sure, and the players on the rest of the other floors add up to 1-2 more floors worth of people playing. Plus lobby always has a good chunk of people. Maximize the competition, maximize the fun, and you maximize the activity. and maximize the $$$ for the big guys.

Good suggestion. I like the idea. It would lose a server but make the other two more playable. No sense in having 3 low populated servers. 2 Higher populated is better.

Serg has personally noticed the population issue on Banff before, so I don't think he'd be against this (personal opinion, not fact).... I just don't know if he needs approval from Bills.

If they really wanted to defend Banff they wouldn't say a load of crap here. They would actually go to Banff and pay an account there, and make sure something like this is avoid. Although I do not think this would happen , if this actually occured, Banff members would have to go by the fact that Banff is no longer a visited server anymore.

How wrong and right you are. The sole fact of having an upgrade in TAO would bring a lot more folks to play TAO. And I assure you that. Not to mention competition would go pretty high for a good time if this was established. It would have to be soon just how long this would endure.

Nevertheless, I've read dozens of suggestions like this, what makes this special? Unless serg really posted here, or actually read it, nothing's really going to happen.

To me the point is,

Nothing is going to change in this game. In the beginning when the admins were active, things changed. Now they arent, and they wont.

And I'm fine with that, the game is fine how it is. If people get bored, so be it. They can leave.

Except I do recall last time the admins messedw ith the servers to *update or w.e they were doing, moving them to a better server thingy I think* there was a huge mess of golds gettin canceled and such.
If you delete 1 server, would that mean the golds on it get deleted if so than I would really bet that their would be an angry mob here. ;)
Would it delete the golds or just get moved to another server?
Btw GL= good army= alright banff= no one cares otherwise it wouldn't be so dang dead.

Yeah, it sucks. But it's realistic.

If this does happen, I won't object. I'll probably move my gold to GL.
