Luck in tactics is way too big of a factor, you could be totally more skilled than a player than luck screws you over. I m suggesting reorganizing stats of units were you hit everytime? I dont know just a thought..

thank you

I agree, luck is what has brought this game to where it is today. We should make this game just as lame as chess! Perfect! This is revolutionary!, Tree Hugger, I love you.

Just a suggestion ^^ luck gets annoying...if your better you should win. If your worse you should lose. Chess is a great game :) btw

While I agree with you, just think of playing a game where every single attack was a hit. It would be rather retarded. A game would take 5 minutes.

yeahh, i kind of disagree. Luck is a major factor in this game but without it, this game would be pretty pointless.

What? It's not?

What have I been doing all these years... Speaking of Chess, though - we have a game to complete at some point, Jeffery, assuming you still play on Gameknot?

Luck is a major role in the game, I think it just shouldn't come into play so often. I'm talking about the ridiculous hits/blocks btw.

Just make it so that every hit >50% hits almost every time, and every hit <50% misses almost all the time...So that people can actually estimate and guess it's going to hit every single time. Make knight side blocks similar to a pyro frontal, but keep the percentages the same.

Shamus
12-26-2008, 11:48 PM
Why would you make knight side blocks similar to pyro frontals? Knights would block everything.

if you're truly better than someone, you will win every time.

if you're even with someone, it will go back and forth. The great thing about statistics and probability is that, in the long run, it averages out. People generally complain when things are more pronounced near the end. If you go and get a front shot on your opponent's knight on the first turn, and the knight gets completely healed up, you don't notice it. But when a witch blocks a front shot when there are 2 units left on the field, and that determines the game, then "omg its cuz luck!"!

Well, in all actuality, both instances have the exact same probability - the former just happened when you didn't care as much about it. The point is, you need to make decisions based on good odds, not long shots. If you and your opponent both operate by this principle, than "luck" doesn't actually favor any one person, but both equally.

Am I the only person who thinks this was complete non-sense?

And no if your better then someone and there lucky you wont win, and you know that.. you can be playing a grey for the matter and be better then them but they get 4 frontals on your knights through-out the game, 2 frontals on your scouts, there pyros both block, there witch blocks, and there sassy block twice while your units only having 1 block from a knight. Now lets re-coup what you just said.

EDIT: not trying to argue with you uni. :)

What he said makes perfect sense.

The odds of a block don;t change, just how you notice them do. A block in the first turns of the game are barely noticed because there are plenty of other units on the field. Whereas a block at the end of the game SEEMS to be more important. But the two blocks are statistically the same.

And, luck or not, the better player will win more than the other player. Not every time, but more often than he will lose. Uni does have that one wrong. The ONLY time his statement does work is when someone is vastly better than the other player.

if by "first time I used this" you meant "I'll shut up now", then you'd be correct.

You can't fix ''luck''

By the way, it isn't ''luck'', it's either the blocking system is corrupt, or you had tons of blocks last game and now for your next game, you get no blocks, it makes sense
