View Full Version : I need help! : Cadillac or Porsche?

actgfin1234

Before you answer, these cars are both in very very good condition, the Porsche engine was just completely rebuilt and has no miles on it, and the Cadillac only has just over 17k miles.

So the big choice...

2005 Cadillac CTS-V (http://www.dragtimes.com/images/9701-2004-Cadillac-CTS-V.jpg)
The beast supercharged V8 luxury sedan

or

1986 Porsche 944 Turbo (951) (http://www.ridejudge.com/rides2/22257.jpg)
Don't let the year fool you, nothing on this car except the body has been there since '86

To get an unbiased opinion, I'll leave out some of the details.

I know I'm going to get some answers from people who know nothing about either car, and I'm willing to answer questions about either. For reference though, I know a lot more about the porsche.

Porsche I always thought built pretty damn solid cars. Cadillacs are really reliable from my experience driving/riding in them but maybe its just me. I'd go with the Porche just because of your knowledge about the car.

this is one of the toughest choices I've had to make. I really really like both cars. The porsche because it's rare to find one in such good shape.. It's bored to a 2.7 from a 2.5 and it's got a super 75 turbo to replace toe stock KKK. Though if anything does go wrong in the porsche it'll be expensive to fix....

Both cars are putting down 400HP minimum.

argh....

I think you should take a took at the insurance costs. Honestly I don't know which one is higher, I would assume the Porsche simply because it's a turbo and well it's a Porsche....but then again it is much older so it could be a wash. Next I would consider the cost to repair....In that case I would suspect the Porsche to be higher.

Considering all of those factors the most sensible choice would be the Caddy, but when it comes to cars usually sensibility is thrown out the door.....In this case take the Porsche.

Hope I helped ya! :)

actgfin1234
12-23-2008, 11:05 AM
The mommy and daddy you would be referring to....

The mommy who's filed for bankruptcy but still did her best to raise her four kids, and did a damn good job at it? Whom now I share every penny I make with?

Or the alcoholic father who's in rehab now because he tried to kill himself over losing his wife and his job and falling off a ladder at some dead end construction job and breaking 10 ribs.

I'm just curious if those are the mommy and daddy that you think are going to be purchasing a vehicle for me.

No, wizzy, contrary to what your small, simple mind might be able to barely conceive, some people in this world have done something with their life, and made good financial decisions allowing them to purchase something they want. Hell, they might even have been saving for it!

I'm sorry to throw a thought this tough for you to comprehend your way, but rattle it around in there a little and I'm sure you'll get it if you try!

Go get'em tiger!

Haha, oh the irony. If I would have posted what actg did, I would have gotten a MUCH vulgar response... Only difference between his story and mien is that my mom is the POS and my dad tried...But whatever lol TAO will be TAO..

actg, I'd get the Porsche for the simple fact I HATE 4dr. However, if you prefer 4dr or don't have a preference at all, go with the Caddy. The chicks will dig it more and it will be easier to fix. Just know that if the Porsche and Caddy are pushing around the same hp, the Porsche will still win, albeit by a car length or maybe more.

actgfin1234
12-23-2008, 12:54 PM
the porsche will definitely blow the caddy away. it's way lighter and isn't limited. The porsche is noted for it's speed from a roll... it's disgustingly fast stock. Stock HP is like 215HP and this one will be 400 at LEAST

That is one ugly ass porshe, absolutely take the Caddy. Comfy, decent looking, newer, more likely to get laid in that one than that specific porshe.

That is a tough choice. If you plan on having somewhat of a project car and plan on doing some racing, the Porsche would be a good choice. Otherwise, go with teh sexeh Caddy. You can fit 4 girls in it, maybe more. ;)

Are is there even a small chance you'll have kids in the near future (few years)?

If so, don't make the same mistake I did and buy a 2 sports car for a daily driver. Kids + G35 coupe = bad. I don't think a porsche would be much better. I ended up trading it in, so plan ahead.

If that's not a problem, definately go Porsche.

1. Drag racing is definitely not the only type of race there is.
2. anyone who knows about porsches knows they aren't made to drag, they're made to run on a track, and they do one hell of a job doing it.

Drag racing = 0 skill. You simply press the gas,and maybe shift gears.

Try a good old fashion rally race sometime. Think of it as a giant zig-zagging drag race that goes for 50miles.

But then again, you don't know how to drive a normal car, let alone race one without crashing.

You proved yourself not only unable to drive (wrecking a ca5r within a day of getting it) but unable to not reply to me (within one day of saying you would ignore me and never reply to me again).

Seems to me you've proved several things today.

1) You're an idiot while driving
2) You're an idiot while posting
3) You're an idiot

Proof of this?
1) you wrecked a car within a day of getting it
2) You posted this, expecting to get some kind of Kudos
3) While no concrete evidence of your over all idiotic nature has surfaced, the circumstantial evidence of you being an idiot in everything else highly points this out.

It's really not a governor as much as a program in a chip. From what I have heard most GM cars have some kind of a chip that will prevent the car from going over a certain speed.....and of course this chip can be replaced or in some cases reprogrammed.
