Welcome!
Hello general public and welcome to the Pro-Sport's-Style-Tournament in it's 4th annual year 2009! With Mith gone this year, I will be hosting PSST. Mithrandir and I have very similar styles in which we host tournaments: strictly. So please follow rules that are assigned and we can run this whole operation smoothly. If you have questions, please feel free to ask... just keep in mind I will have a LOT of you to talk to so I may not be as prompt as I would like. After teams are drafted, please extend questions to Captains, who will have weekly check-in meetings with me.

Basic Summary.
This summary of rules is subject to minor changes or additions after meeting with Captains.
For everyone else, here is the basic jist:

Eligible players are placed in a draft pool and drafted by the four captains. TBA on specific draft style.
The captains adjust their rosters to find a style and starters for each individual member.
Captains are permitted to trade players.
Teams will match up and specific opponents will be assigned. Challenges can be issued. Good PM's must be sent to opponents and posted in round thread's. Battle reports MUST be filled out by the winner in the specific form given:
FORMAT:
Game/Type: (Captain A's Team) vs. (Captain B's Team); (Style)
Players: (Player Y) vs. (Player Z)
Winner: (Player Y)
Screenshot: (NA unless opponent disputes the game outcome... so it's wise to take one)
Comments: (Up to your discretion)
EXAMPLE:
BaxVarlet's Noobs vs. AFO's Hippi's; Freestyle

Comments: I was way underrated at 400,000.
Good PM's and Battle reports will be recorded on the first post of each round's thread.
One week will be permitted as the maximum to play games. Extensions can be granted with the host (me) due to extenuating circumstances if given in advance. Draws result in replay.
When all have completed their first game of round one, those who survived will move on to round two and face a new opponent. Members who did not play will be disqualified by my judgment/PM records.
This continues until a team is entirely defeated, at which point the two winning teams will face off in the finals.
TAL points will be awarded to not only winning teams, but specific players who add contribution to their teams (MVP's, etc). TAL point values are TBA with the captains.
Any violation of TOS for this site or general misconduct will result in disqualification from this tournament which translates into a loss.

Revisions and Refinement.
As PSST is a massive tournament, we will always be looking for revisions and refinement to make it interesting and more fun for everyone involved. I will soon have meetings with the 4 PSST Captains to discuss what we would like to revise this year (perhaps Free Agency, Drafting, TAL Values, Use of the Bench... for example). These revisions will be made public before the first round of the tournament begins. As of now, they are TBA.

Comments: FPS is not such a great bedfellow as Legends for me so I'm only "Ok" to "Pretty Good" in 2 Scout games comparatively. Probably somewere in the region of 700% more prone to upsets in games then anybody else signing up.. Additional Comments : Honestly my skill level is not the one used to be. But somehow when i play for a team i give my best in my games. I think i can beat anyone in freestyle, no matter who the opponent is and in the same way i can lose to most of good freestylers. I started playin freestyle this last year and just recently at FPS, so i am not the best choice in that style. In grey, i am inconsistent. I ended up second in mav's tourney at grey, playing a few great games at the beggining and just sucking at the end. If i have an extra motivation like being in a team i can give decent fights to anyone.
Turt is probably the style i feel more comfortable to and i've played almost all good players at that style.
I think the most important is i know pretty much all decent and good overall players and i play different against all of them, usually giving me a good result. I can also be a good help at the momment of analizing opponent's team, i've been in this kind of tourneys for over 4 years so if i am not the best one in the table i can give you some usefull tips outside of it.

Comments: Well, I'm rusty but I'm a really decent all-around player. I was in last years season finals and was 3rd with a pretty good ovarall score. I won freestyle section, came second on the grey section and I don't remember what I came on in the turtle section.
I can be placed in any style and will probably do a good job (won't promise anything in turtle... I have my ups and downs there).
I think of myself as a very decent overall player, I just need to overcome most of the rust which could be done with some games in the team.

I've beaten several top FPS players at turtle including Mag, Monk, Shinok...not sure who else. I used to turtle over here on Red-X and Azrael as my names. Grey dropless I can get into sometimes, and I can match up decently with near anyone. Freestyle I'm good at on Legends. Not too sure about here. I wouldn't rate myself as top tier in any style except for possibly turtle. And I'd need concentration.

I think its great that you want to play, but unfortunately all tournaments are held on our Revelations server, even if the style is gray, it is required to play it on a gold account.

It sounds like you could be a welcome addition, however, so I would really encourage you for 5 bucks to upgrade a server gold and get a lifetime revelations gold, or to ask some friends and see if you can find a Revelations account to participate on.

Until then, I unfortunately cannot add you to the draft pool list.

Tough to say. There are a lot of good players. I do think that the current rules benefit specilization in styles just a hair more than, say the first and second PSSTs, so that may be something to consider. I think being an "all rounder" is a better trait in a second or third round pick, IMO.

I don’t want to become active in TAO again, but for PSST, like everyone else, I’ll make this exception and then disappear again. Captains, please read my application carefully, and take it seriously. There have been a great deal of bogus applications, people intentionally under-ranking themselves and what-not. My application is 100% serious.

Comments: I used to be okay at freestyle, a long, long time ago. I haven’t played gold in forever, and when I was last playing gold, I stunk to high heaven. Put me in free if you must, but I will probably lose. I have turtled now and then, but I never got the hang of it, and I would lose pretty much guaranteed now. The extent to which I have played this game in the last four or five months is three dropless grey games a couple of months ago, when I came on to let off a little steam. I lost one against a good, but not amazing player and won the other two, one against a good but not amazing player, and the other against a non-noob but pretty much loser. Before I left, I was already not very good, having become pretty inactive. So the last time I played regularly and was in remotely good gaming shape at my best style, gray, was in the last PSST. I am in no position now to compete against people with half a brain and several hours a day to play. I am signing up because I hopped on a couple of days ago to see this thread, because of course I take a great deal of pride in PSST. Seeing so many of my old friends in one thread that I haven’t seen in forever (hey wolfy! Hey Fry!) made this really irresistible. I am not signing up because I think there is a chance in hell I can pull off another performance like in PSST3, because there is not. I should be probably a 40+ pick, which would be a tad risky, and you’re a total fool if you pick me before the thirties. If you pick me before the thirties, I can almost guarantee you that I will disappoint you. If you pick me in the thirties, I will most likely disappoint you.

I should also mention my activity level. I will get my games in, period, but I will not be incredibly active and training. I will play a few games to shake off a little rust, but I won’t be much of an asset in whipping your grey section into shape or even getting myself into tip-top condition.

One more thing. Considering I’m not much of a player anymore, probably the best asset I can be to your team is strategic. Mag will vouch for the invaluable help I was to his team in the element of strategy. I personally ran the team when he went absent, and played a massive element in strategizing our rosters. I was an early pick, and played a factor in picking the rest of our team. And I single-handedly made the trade happen that gained the Tartan Army the tremendous asset of Rubbish. I am not going to claim to be the best here strategically speaking, but I am up there. My record speaks for itself, and my whole team in the last PSST will back me up on that. However, bear my activity level in mind. I can be a great asset in this area, but my time will still be limited.

Yes. This is the case. Pun wanted me to seriously sign him up. He's at a handicap but it's very likely PSST will not be over by the time he is allowed to play.
