Eagle, you and I talked about this before the draft started. A big part of which team wins in a PSST is which team finds the unknown good players. This kind of thing has ALWAYS happened. Now, if what you're suggesting is to make a rule against this for PSST5, then we have a conversation worth having, and I might be in favor of that. But if what you're suggesting is to DQ cross-fire, there is no way that is going to happen, because precedence is entirely on his side.

It's been said before, but this proves the point once again...there ain't no drama like psst drama baby!! yeaaaahhhhh!!

It seems like this needs to be considered in two steps:

1. Is this a current DQ for this tourney: A good argument could be made that the rule "sign up under your known name" was violated. But, it's meat's rule, and he says it's just for convenience…so people can distinguish between in-game and forum names. I'm not sure I understand that point – it seems the purpose of the rule is to make sure people (at least the captains) know who the draft picks really are? If that's the case, then how is that rule not applicable here, where no one knew who this draft pick was even though he's a known player? On the other hand, it seems unfair to take away one of afo's players when he didn't know any more about it than anyone else. Regardless, it's meat's call and he's made it. And I don't care that much anyway cause I already lost to the friggen 657th seed, a loss that I am now attributing to the fact that Lex is obviously an alias account for the illegitimate love child created by the test tube combination of dna from seed, monkus and omegabatman. :(

2. Is this a rule change issue for future psst tourneys: I say yes. I think one reason for psst's popularity as a tourney is that it has a fantasy sports element to it. The pre-draft speculating, the draft and the post-draft trades – the actual team building – is a big part of the fun. You definitely lose this element of the tourney if no one actually knows who the players are.

Think about it. Suppose you're in a fantasy football league and your buddy drafts Joe Journeyman as a running back in the 12th round. Then, after week three it suddenly comes out that Joe Journeyman is Adrian Peterson (the Vikings AP, not the stiff who plays for the Bears and who is also named AP :(). You'd be hotter than a stolen tamale…you'd be madder than a red-assed hornet…sizzling like dog kaka in a cast iron skillet…more steamed than two cats doing the horizontal bone dance in a wool sock…you'd be…er…let's just move on.

The big difference last year when geeky played on boondock saints and cliche played on some stupid-named alias…I don't remember the name, rainman, or rainhat, or I_M_A_Dress_Wearing_Nancy, or something like that…was that all the captains knew who they were before the draft. So, they didn't skew the draft by entering on an alias account. This situation is different. Here, nobody, not even the captains, knew this dude cross-fire was really some other dude named s][nful, who I guess is a big friggen deal. Or at least he thinks he is:

So, anyway, back to the rule change, allowing alias's like this is obviously a problem because one team could gain an unfair advantage (if the alias and one of the captains were in cahoots). But even if that wasn't the case (like in this situation), it's still a problem because the whole team-building process, which is what makes psst unique as a tourney (and so much fun for a lot of people) is undermined.

This is just setting precedence for more and more of this to happen in future PSST if this were to allow to happen. Then it's not even about the captains making good picks, just how many good hidden secondaries you happen to pick up by luck.

My assumptions and opinions on how the teams were picked is my own and i can think what i want, and it shouldn't bother you if it wasn't true because you should care less on what i think. Some people have said this is a game, not a gentlemen's club. I happen to think the way you behave in a game is a great litmus test for your character. You can find out if they care more about winning than people, if they're willing to cheat, you can analyze creativity, sense of humor, there are all kinds of things you can learn about someone by the way the behave in a game.

The reason you won't opposite side turt me is because you know you'll lose. You rely too much on same sides with that second row. The only reason you agreed to free is because your hoping for at least a set advantage, because we both know you'll need some kind of one to beat me. I beat you before in turtle same sides and the only reason it was close was because it was SAME SIDES.

It doesn't bother me one way or another who you are or what you did to get in this tourney, it's just for fun and so far I have had 2 rather fun games so all is well!

However, this comment is just ridiculous! By this way of thinking, here are the new rules for next PSST:

Everyone gets assigned a # 1-150 but the captains don't know which # is assigned to whom. Captains then draft teams by picking #'s at random. After all the #'s have been drafted we finally get to find out who is on which team.

After all, we all want to get treated as equals, not based on WHO WE ACTUALLY ARE!

Like people have said before: The thing that sets this tournament apart from the others is the draft process and trading. It adds another element of excitement to the tourney. If you are just going to void this then there is really no reason to have the draft at all, making this just another run-of-the-mill tourney.

First off, there is no "treated equally" on TAO. Hool, as a great player, is not treated the same as Lex, the best damn player EVER. I, a mediocre player, am not treated the same as say...kingedward, another mediocre player. And guys like Prof, total noobs, are not treated the same as AFO, an even bigger noob.

So you're whole "I want to be treated equally" line is crap. Everybody on TAO is treated differently. Even Isaac and Ricky, two brothers who are both VERY good at TAO, are not treated the same.

Anyway, my two cents on this whole Cross-Sin thing:

The fact that somebody dropped out of a tournament on their known name to join as a secondary shouldn't be allowed. At the very least, they should tell the captains who they are, even if everyone else doesn't know. That is what Geeky did last year (and yes, I understand that he did it because allstar already knew and it had to be fair, but that's not the point).

The point of this tournament is highly played around the draft. High Heat's example is a very good one. Think of it like this:

Sam Bradford decides to officially change his name to Joe Mamma, because he thinks it'll be funny. He doesn't tell anyone, and the Patriots pick him up as their last pick in round 7. They now have the best college QB in the league.

Of course, this is a bad scenario to describe s][nful, because he's no where near top 10 (I don't know why you people think he should have been picked as a top 5 turtler, he's really not even close). However, a pick 88 that could have easily been picked top 20 plays a large impact on the tournament.

Because I don't think it is fair to d/q Perfect for this, I won't suggest it.

I do, however, suggest that any TAL points he wins on Cross-Fire be given to Cross-Fire, not Perfect (meaning the account). That way, at least he'll learn he needs to stay on one account throughout the TAL season.

Now that I have a little time to post...

Obviously none of this affects THIS PSST but should be considered for future PSSTs:

The PSST is obviously the biggest tournament of the TAO year. It manages to pull players out of the woodwork that may have not even been seen in some time. So, what makes the PSST what it is...what makes up the spirit and soul of this tournament?

1. The Draft - The draft clearly separates the PSST from other tournaments. It adds another level of strategy to the in-game strategy. Deciding which players to draft, based on many criteria (skill, activity, likeliness of particular player getting banned mid tournament) and adds fun for everyone involved. Let's face it: MOST participants eagerly await draft day.

2. Trades - An aspect of the PSST that I wish would be taken advantage of more often (did we really only have 1 trade this year?) but still, in the same way as the draft, adds a dimension of strategy to the PSST that other tournaments have.

3. Getting Drafted - I think this should be quite exciting for participants! It's kind of fun to find out what your peers think of your 'skills'. If you get drafted high, that is quite an honor and you should have fun during the tournament trying to prove that you deserved to get picked high. If you get picked lower than you thought you should have...enjoy! The pressure to win is off and if you truly feel you are better than your draft position then go out and prove it!

4. Sportsmanship - Sports and Sportsmanship go hand in hand (or at least are SUPPOSED to in theory). This can be applied at many different levels, from forgiving peoples mistakes to just being a good sport. Keep in mind, this doesn't eliminate good-natured trash talking, which is also a big part of the PSST, but tries to limit it to exactly that: GOOD-NATURED. No need to crucify people for stating their opinions, etc.

5. Teams - I realize some, but not many, other tournaments utilize teams but none does so on as grand of a scale as the PSST. Players take great pride in their teams, as can be seen in how heatedly they argue! If you aren't going to make a contribution to your team (i.e. get DQ'd for lack of activity) then why even sign up? That's fine if you are playing in a regular tournament, you only hurt yourself. But here other people are counting on you and this should be considered.

I'm sure there are more but these are the major ones that come to mind. Now, take a look at the 'issues' that we have had so far in this tournament and see if they favor the 'spirit' of the PSST or if they destroy it.

1. 'Secret' accounts - Clearly this totally destroys the spirit of the PSST, pretty much every category. If you afraid people are going to expect too much out of you because of 'rusty-ness' or whatever then state that in your signup thread, don't try to counter that by signing up as an unknown. There are SEVERAL people who signed up for this tournament (i.e. Priest, Firebrand) who may have been considered rusty but they had the courage to come out and play honorably and look how they've done! Signing up under a secret account basically makes you the Barry Bonds of the PSST: Yes you did great but no one cares because they have all lost respect for you.

2. D/C wins - This clearly violates category 4 and a bit of 5, (and you could argue it violates the rest as well). Seriously, is winning at all costs really winning? It would stink to win the PSST only to have an asterisk next to your win ("Yeah, they won...but they also had 25 D/C wins."). If you truly are the better player then you should have no problem winning! I understand that this is a tough subject because of things like 'magical' disconnects when people are losing but something should be done about it. Perhaps implementing a point system instead of the straightforward win/loss system we have now, (this is an entirely different conversation though).

There are over 130 people playing in this years PSST, which is amazing! Every one of them signed up to HAVE FUN! It's terrible to think that only a few people can ruin this fun for so many other people.

With all this being said, I can say that my two opponents I have played so far (Imagination and Garack) were definitely both shining examples of what this tournament SHOULD be. Both were great sports and played with great skill. We are always going to have a couple of people who unavoidably try to create drama but the rest of us can at least make a small effort to keep the PSST what it is supposed to be: fun!

That is not cool, I think I am a decent turtler perhaps worthy of top 5 or 10 in that style. I deffinately showed it in the tryouts. i was top 3 i think...

Ultimately, the continuation of PSST is on your shoulders. If you want, I can (and will) make it illegal to have underground discussions with Captains before the draft to prevent people from informing the captain of themselves (not that I have any way to enforce this... maybe the way to do it would be announce the captains RIGHT before the draft out of the people present), and I think a lot of you would be pretty upset that you weren't able to talk to people... IE: I know IROK conversed with AFO, and Greed conversed with Bax, etc.

So if y'all want to enter PSST on alias' and secretly tell the captains who you are to enter onto one awesome team next year--do it. I'll just cancel PSST entirely. But if one person, who very apparently didn't tell any captains about himself (which would be the real problem here) giving all the captains an equal chance to take him, slips into this tourney on a secondary--I think you can all find much better things to be upset about.

All tournaments react and are successful based on honesty (with DQ's, with D/C's, with screenshots, with nearly everything). It's how TAL functions. If you think I'm going to allow s][nful on his regular name to enter into any of mine tournament in the future--you're mistaken. But he hasnt broken any rules. So if you all want to start being dishonest and figure out a way to exploit tournaments and TAL, we just wont do TAL anymore, either.

There is a big differance between unknown good players and secondary accounts. I think you can say number_one is kinda of an unknown good players seeing as how mostly everyone predicted he would lose his games and none really knew him to be good enough to beat AFO and lemon, and he is not any secondary account ( even thought i knew he was good and had beaten AFO and lemon before) . And then there is s][nful under cross-fire. I think picking a good unknown player and a good player under a secondary account is 2 different things.

Irok I understand your concern about this situation and understand where you stand about it, however, to diss my skill level is not right. You tried to replace me in FPS vs. Legends. That is not cool, I think I am a decent turtler perhaps worthy of top 5 or 10 in that style. I deffinately showed it in the tryouts. i was top 3 i think...

I read all this drama recently (I mean come on people) and I decided to interject some real world drama for perspective. Yesterday I found out in a video from the CEO of my company that "merit increases" (thats raises to everyone else) will not be given out this year, nor will bonuses, and if that doesn't cut costs enough there will be pay cuts, and if that doesn't do it there will be layoffs. Don't ask who, I make it a point to not put myself in a position of getting fired for publicly saying who I work for. So next time you raise your blood pressure over this game put it into perspective.

Comments: What a game. Center vs center. I expected Sol to use a center so I warmed up with AFO for a half hour or so beforehand, and he ate me alive every time, so I went into it feeling pretty frustrated, but better prepared than I would have been otherwise. Sol got first turn and a frustrating string of luck that put me on the defense. Knight side-blocks, side-hits, a frontal on my scout…

He was putting heavy pressure on me with two knights, witch and scout. So I chantied a knight, in position where I could cut off LOS next move so he couldn’t finish it off (yet) and the only way for him to defocus me due to the wait on his scout would be to burn through his own knight with his barriered witch at 10. By doing so, I was able to kill his witch and still manage to hold my defense for a while. Our knights went after each other, his scout advanced into lw range to shoot my chanty after a cleric healed it, putting it at 17. I fried it, he barriered it and it sat there very annoyingly for a good while.

I lost my chant and witch killing one knight and badly wounding another. It was trying to get away, while I was trying to take shots at it while still preventing it an escape route. Finally I had a killing shot at it on a side hit at 84%, with his cleric ready to heal next turn. And it blocked. The extra turns required to kill it and not let it get away forced my cleric to be exposed and he saw the opening and went for it. I got his knight eventually and lost my cleric. Fortunately, I trapped his last knight.

My scout blocked two important front shots (at no blocking decrease), one from his knight before I killed it, and one from his scout towards the end, as Sol was desperately trying to survive. Very importantly, as I worked on my counter-attack, I had my assassin on the other side of the arena, near his assassin. Mine was at full HP, and with him only having assassin and scout as mobile attacking units left, killing my assassin became difficult. I think if my assassin had been wounded in a way that could have prevented a bomb from being possible, the game would have been much harder, because the pressure from the assassin made all the difference in the world. I managed to get a shot at his cleric with my assassin, he paralyzed both assassins, I killed his, and at that point it was pretty much over. Too many melee units (with scout back-up) to paralyze them all. Very, very good game Sol.

Many, many thanks to AFO, Creed, D*D, burnout and everyone else on that cheered me on. You guys seriously impacted my game in a positive way by helping me to not get too depressed as the blocking frustration piled up.:)

Its more of a less harsh than an easier to see. I can read it longer and go over what I wrote to catch the points where I was unclear or mistyped. Everyone is built different deal with it :p

Ok this is the deal…

Abhimanu tells me on his PM to show up at 11:00am ET today. I come 30 minutes earlier (10:30am) and we start our game. His first phrase is “I might need to go soon, therefore I will d/c, will I get the d/q?”

After 10 minutes of play, maybe less, we got to this point and he said “I gotta go dude, sorry” and leaves. I took 3 screenies for everyone to judge. I have a small advantage since he’s got no scout and muddy anymore. My positioning on the arena is quite better than his too. Note that on my 3 screen shots you can see the units that are waiting on turns or damaged. My scout (two tiles away from my knight) needs to wait one turn. My frosty is at 54 HP. His remaining scout has 32 HP. The rest of the units are ready to move/heal/attack!
