Mav's March Turtle Tournament

Alright, same deal as all the other months. This month is alpha turtle. 16 is the minimum sign ups and 32 is the max, so lets aim for 32.

You guys did a good job last month of getting all your games done and we finished over a week early for the first time ever! Good shit guys.

To help ensure activity, Mag has given me the power to take away TAL points for blatant d/q's and Mag will be approving every deduction of TAL points so there will be no bias here.

I only say 1:00 PM as a start because I'm not sure when I'm going to be awake) so I was on at 11:30 this morning. Apparently he was busy or something because he wasn't on. He also said tomorrow at the same time so I'll look for him then.

If we don't catch each other tomorrow, we'll have to play Friday, because he said this weekend doesn't work for him.

I don't think it was badly played on his part, maybe I'm missing something though, I don't really "get" turtle :S GG as always though buddy. It was very close I would have won by Cleric, Stone, Frost, Knight and DT.

Description: Same sides game, my back row vs his second corner. I got first turn, and my cleric was blocked off, so I wasn't at a disadvantage in this one, and I moved DT and mud up, hoping to get SOMETHING early. I got his wisp as he targeted my DT, and I went for his scout after I destoned him. He blocked the first frontal, but the second hit, but I lost my mud in the exchange.

He destones me, and I freeze his mud and regroup my wisp, and scouts to restone.

He manages to take my knight because I didn't realize how weak it was (mental error on my part), but I still have the advantage with 2 scouts, wisp, and frost against his 6 HP scout, knight, and DT.

He comes on the offensive, and I take his scout with a 63% to hit side shot, as he targets my frost.

This is where I make my largest mental error. Right now, I don't have my wisp, because I sac'd it to get his scout (something I shouldn't have done in hindsight). He brings up HIS frost, and rather than:

a) sacrificing cleric, allowing me to move frost into the corner and get his knight
or
b) targeting HIS frost

I decide to go for his knight. Not realizing exactly how low my frost is HP wise, he takes it, and instead of targeting his frost, I CONTINUE to go for his knight.

Not hard to figure out that 2 scouts < stoned DT, knight, frost.

Good game skev. You had some mental farts of your own, but you played off my mistakes perfectly.

I'm probably talking too much crap about him, but the only reason I can see as for why he beat me was because I gave him 2 of my ranged units in a very stupid way.

At one point I was going to surrender, but then I saw I could take his cleric, and make things more complicated. My plan of hoping he would mess up worked, and I won.
As he said though, it wasn't my awesomeness that gave me the win (sadly).

Crazy game, my first game using a furgon and I'll tell you what, that guy was playing his ass off for a spot on the roster. DD was using a three knight turt, no wisp or frost. I played to his advantages by trading pieces early to get him destoned, playing directly to his strengths. He definitely played better than me in the beginning, and the result was me left with just a scout, wisp, furg and frost to fight his 2 knights, mud, and dragon. I managed to trade off my wisp for his cleric and a good amount of damage to his mud, dragon, and one knight since I knew I would be screwed if he got these guys stoned and attacked me. He then proceeded to bum rush me with his pieces and I was up to my head in defending with shrubs. I managed to get his mud off the board, but he got rid of a bunch of my defensive shrubs protecting my scout and frost. My furg then proceeded to block two front shots in three turns to help put some defense back up, and I certainly would've lost without it. DD took the luck very well, and forced me to make no mistakes for the rest of the game. Finally after an extremely long and close turt game, I managed to escape with my 5 HP scout and nearly full frost to his one knight. I can't believe I pulled that one out of my ass, but it was a fun game and props to Doctor Device for taking the luck the way he did. Great game man.

Comments: It was a close game up through, I made the first mistake healing 1 turn early giving him my wisp and the early advantage. Late game he made 2 mistakes, 1 was moving his scout allowing me to freeze his dragon. This gave me a chance to damage his dragon and unstoned scout. Then the last mistake was after he had lost 1 scout and he attacked my cleric with his remaining scout allowing me to freeze and kill his dragon. GG Sniper

OK, my schedule is crazy for awhile. Highschool baseball has a very "flexible" schedule. As in, they don't tell us when we practice until the day before.

Here is what i know for sure about my schedule.

I cannot play tomorrow or wednesday
Thursday i can play from 3-10pm
Friday i can play 7-11pm
Saturday i can play anytime during the day, just let me know a time, and i should be able to get on.
Sunday, I can play from 4pm-10pm.

Since Ragnarth and Sinful have both played their games already this round, and won, why not have Llrich and I'malive play each other this round, and then give a bye next round to one person still left from the preliminary round? (there's already two people to choose from for next round.) It seems the most fair that Rag and Sin should have just as much of a chance to receive a bye than the rest of us remaining, it would be like faulting them for getting their game in too fast.

Ya we both had some decent luck, but at the beggining his dragon blocked 3 front hits which really let him walk all over me with his mud and dragon. He then did a misclick to get me back into the game. Now that I think about it though, the misclick was kinda a good thing for him, he accidently hit my mud with his dragon instead of my wisp, if he hadnt done this its tru his scout woulda been alive, but my mud woulda been able to do some pretty big damage with the amount of hp it had (45hp cleric heal available) and it woulda been basically a wisp for wisp and mud trade (his wisp was 1 move away from dieing and his mud was about to be frozen).

You can only outplay someone so much... Sometimes the blocks are just going to win it for them. Second tournament game in a row. Wee.
