Petition To Reset Reputation

Well as the title states I am suggesting that all rep be reset back to 0. I wasn't here for the good ol' days when it was hard to just get 1000 but that seems like the best bet for the system. Everyone knows that the rep ranks only go from -10000 to 10000. So whats the point of having a user with over 1,000,000? (I don't know if that is been reached yet but I figured it has)

Rep would be kept for post count so that there would be something to start from, which unfortunatly would give The Cheat the highest rep but oh well. Simply put I believe rep has gotten out of hand and its time to start over.

I'm with Sav, I just like getting rep for the messages... But now we have our little messages in our profiles that make it easy to say something to someone without having to go through the hassle of PMing, so the rep-message system really doesn't serve any purpose anymore, at least not to me.

But I'm not really in favor of resetting it. Resetting the rep would almost inevitably cause drama... Because it would only cause a lot more people to start caring about rep, and the "rep boosters," would only piss more people off, and drama would ensue.

I will reply to both of you at the same time because I feel your points are similar, and valid points they are.

However, many people thought I was a reputation whore when I was on the user name dirka dirka. Justifications such as my rep2sig program and others were used. Now everyone realizes I am not because I made a new user name and if I cared about rep I wouldn't have.

I argue that nobody really cares about rep that actually contributes to this forum. Therein, I argue that if you're a reputation whore then you're nothing but a nuance to this forum.

This is somewhat off topic... all things considered, this will never happen.

In regards to the topic itself: simply by making this thread the maker has shown that he/she cares way too much about rep already. I have the feeling that the only people that care about rep are the ones that complain (making a thread is a fine example, but private messages in regards to reputation and spiteful negbacks are fine too) or boast about it in some way (see: wielding a big e-penis and smiting people with your neghammer).

This system was put in place to allow comments on people's posts. This reduces unneeded posts and/or spam that are simple personal comments and allows a quick way of doing so (as opposed to private messages).

The numerical value will always exist. Yes, it is a stupid thing that people read so much into it. However, this thread was created on the subject of reading too much into it... while accusing other people of doing so you're actually doing the same thing they are doing. Actually, forum ideas that are possible through vB aren't like the game features being that it's impossible to alter. Serg and Redbones have full access to the forums and can change whatever they see fit for the community. I'll forward this to serg when he gets back.
