ED's Random All-Around Team Tourney V2!

Well I finally get to run this! HorNeT and I tried this in the past, and I thought it was a good enough concept to bring back.

TAL certified. Points will be determined when sign-ups are finished.

Basic Description:

There will be teams of 4. The amount of teams is pending on the sign-ups. Everything is selected at random, including teams, which teams play each other, and which team member plays a rival team member from the opposing team. There will be five rounds total. The rounds will be scored on the basis of the winning of the members and the leaders.

Team Members:

There will be 4 players per team
The members of each team will be chosen at random


Choosing a Leader


You may not vote for yourself.
If there is a tie between team members:
-Google fight to determine winner.
-Tie 1v1v1v1
--All members vote for someone different (that is not themselves). In this situation, you may either re-vote or have Google fight decide your leader.
All voting will be done VIA PMing ExpectDeath. Anything done outside of this VERY SPECIFIC way of voting for your leader will not be counted.


Choosing Your Team Name:

No voting required unless requested. I hope you can come up with this on your own. If not, ExpectDeath will choose for you (Most likely the first letter of each persons name.) Team name chosen after leader is voted for.

Game Play:

Teams will be assigned to each other to play randomly.
Each member of the team will play one member of the assigned opponents team. They will be selected at random, also.
Game type will also be selected at random. (Game types: Freestyle, Gray, Turtle; Alpha Rules)
Leaders always play each other.
Leader game style will also be randomized.
All games are to be played on the Revelations server.


Rounds:

Round 1 single, regular elimination.
Round 2 single, regular elimination.
Round 3 single, regular elimination.
Round 4 Pending on sign-ups.


Scoring:


Leader win: 2 points of the teams accumulated score.
Member win: 1 of the teams accumulated score.
No show = Loss. NO SUBS.
Loss: 0 points of the teams score.
Each team has the potential to win 5 points.

Make sure that after you randomize the teams, that none of the teams are overly stacked with good players or vice versa. If that happens, re-randomize the affected teams.

Of course, some teams are going to be better than others, but the talent discrepancy should never be to the point where any match-up is a sure thing.

heh play this for a couple of years and you are just now realizing that? its not you, its the style of the game.... pretty much everyone that plays is either .... extremely self absorbed (if they think they are half decent) or they are sucking up to ppl that they think are good or can benefit them (aka mods).... yea man enjoy your vacation, you wont be missed at all except maybe by afew of us

So, we have just about 40 sign ups.

A question to the community...

Should I run it like the '06 tourney, and stop it at 40 sign ups? Or allow more people to sign up and alter the match ups?

Make sure that after you randomize the teams, that none of the teams are overly stacked with good players or vice versa. If that happens, re-randomize the affected teams.

Of course, some teams are going to be better than others, but the talent discrepancy should never be to the point where any match-up is a sure thing.

If you wanted to avoid that, you could seed the players, and seperate them into 4 even groups (1-10, 11-20, etc) and have each team get one random person from each group.

Sign ups have only been open for around a day ED, the more the merrier.

I think I'm going to stick with the teams. There are plenty of great players already signed up, so chances are each team will get some quality members. I'd be taking out part of the random aspect if I would re-organize teams after they had already been picked.

Any ideas on how to organize match-ups if I get upwards of 70 sign ups?

Figured you would say that. You can just do another round of single elimination (or two if needed) until you get it down to a nice of number of teams for a round robin.

That's what I was thinking. I figure there would need to be at least 2 more rounds if we get 70+ sign ups.

i mean If you had exactly 40 signups that would be bad.... cuz thats 10 teams which means 5 on one bracket 5 on another you're looking for 64 people ideally to make things work so it's 16 teams
