I got a new battery last month, and it's worked fine.
Up until yesterday when I noticed it won't charge past 97%.
I unplugged it for a bit dropping it to 95% then tried to recharge it. It now won't charge past 95%
anyone know what's wrong?
It's been plugged in for a few hours, plenty of time to regain 5%. Jeff, where are you my man? I need some computer lovin'.

Just keep it plugged in so it doesn't go any lower. ;)

Do you have a Dell Inspiron? I've been having the same problem with mine. Looks like it is a hardware problem. What other websites suggest is unplugging it, resetting the computer, plugging it back in to see if it starts charging. Unplug then plug again quickly. Stuff like that. Dell knows about the problem and won't fix it apparently.

One thing you could try is this:
Drain the battery down completely. As in deader than dead. Take itout of the computer. Let it sit for a while.
Then reinstall and reboot the computer.
Now, if this does not work, and you just bought the battery, then i would suggest getting a hold of whoever you bought it from.

My Inspiron has the same problem. Apparently the motherboard isn't compatible with the AC adapter and it might or might not work. They can't really do anything about it because they refuse to change the motherboard. Moral of the story, don't buy an Inspiron 1525 because it will eventually inevitably have this problem.

Macbook :/
My school all had Mackbooks, and they did the same thing. I don't think it really matters... sometimes it would charge all the way to 100%, other times it'd just say like 97% or something. Never actually caused any problems.

Actually, the Inspiron problem has nothing todowith the motherboard.
They use an adapter with a special prong that ensures you HAVE to buy their adapter. Aftermarket adaptersdon;twork.
What happens is this prong messes up. It will still run the laptop, just not charge the battery. Depending on the age of the computer, you can request a replacement adapter. Or buy a new one directly from the company if not.
DD,try what I said.

Stupid proprietary thinking that always ends up being worse than it needs to be.

Hmm, doesn't matter the warranty expired like 4 months ago(before it happened to me), but good to know. I'll have to be more wary of the IT forum I got that from.

You might have been able to get them to have the warrenty "extended".
Raise enough fuss, and most companies will help you out.
