There are 90 different types of units, from ground forces to spaceships. Among the space vessels there are a wide variety of specializations -- including mine countermeasure vessels, assault vessels, troop transports, reconnaissance, battleships, missile boats, carriers and destroyers.

Very small businesses would not benfit. The smaller the business, the more broad the talent needs to be because people need to fill in for each other from time to time.If you have a business of 10 people, each with a specialized task, the business is in trouble when one of those people leaves or even gets sick for a day.
I once witnessed a situation in the building I work in where at a Chinese food restaurant had a cashier who just didn't show up to work one day. The only other person working who could speak any English at all was one of the Chefs, and he had never worked the cash register. I remember seeing all the chaos that insued when I went down there for lunch that day. With the phone ringing off the hook, I know they lost a ton of business as they scrambled to take orders and accept payments. In this small business, they were too specialized.Taking a different angle, you could argue that a manager or executive should not be too specialized. It is more important to have a broad understanding of the people and fields you manage than to be specialized in one particular area. Of course you would ideally be managing a group fo specialized workers who were experts in their fields.
