In my insomnia last night I thought up some strategy riddles for TAO. For simplicity call the two players White and Black. Both players are playing to win (or draw if they can't win) - it's not some special type of match where you're trying to do weird things other than win.
Medium
1) Devise a situation where it is a very good move for White to kill his own assassin.
2) You are playing a TAO match with a twist- you can only have 2 units on the field to start. Your opponent is a computer with 2 frost golems and is infinitely intelligent. What is the best team of 2 units for you to play with? (Do not say frost-frost)
Hard *** Do not include assassin bombs or paralysis units in your answer.
3) White has an LW and a BW. Black has no units left that are capable of killing or paralyzing White's lightning ward. Devise a situation where it is a brilliant move for White to barrier his LW.
4) Devise a situation where it is a brilliant move for White to barrier his enemy's unit. Assume black was playing relatively smartly (about 1400 level).
Notes:
#1 is supposed to be an easy problem.
#2 was inspired from an old thread in Legends when there was discussion of the best team for a 2unit VS 2 units TAO tourny.
All problems are solvable; enjoy.

2) Wisp and a Mud

loopget you're close.
SOLUTION SPOILER FOR #2: Highlight
I think wisp/beast rider was the general conclusion of the best combo. Beast rider has a 0 turn move wait as opposed to the mud 1 and has a 1 turn attack rate, as opposed to mud 2. It's double square attack prevents a frost from stacking to protect another and theres only 4 units on the field so there won't be much walling going on. But wisp/mud may be a guaranteed win as well.

I want to say furgon and wisp, or wisp and scout for the second riddle.

1. Kill assassin with pyromancer, simultaneously kill-burning three of their knights + their scout.
2. Wisp, Beast Rider
3. Your chanty is freezing your LW. If they kill your LW, they can reach your chanty [also they have an attacker in range of your barrier ward, should you choose to barrier your chanty]. Your chanty is on three wait.
4. Barrier an assassin [15HP]. Your units: Cleric, Knight, LW, BW. Their units: Assassin, Pyromancer [their Pyromancer is in range of your LW, and will continue to be if it moves; it is your turn, and your LW is on a one turn wait, as is your knight (and your knight is also in range of their assassin)].

That makes 3 and 4 too easy. Assume no assassin bombs or paralysis units for 3/4.

No. You can't make a "riddle" and then say "Oh, after all, I made it too easy. You didn't get it, because I screwed up."
Now gtho. I'm joking.
Edit: These were way too easy no matter what restrictions you can put-- if it's possible, it's easy.

Ok you're right.
In that case, I will post #3 and #4 with the correct rules in the future when no one will remember this.
Yeah, thats right, whoever's negging me. I will get you back.

1. hitting opponents cleric through assassin with dmw
2. furgon and scout. Unlike wisp and beastrider, they can actually win if you ignore the draw rule.
3. White has 2 bw's adjacent to a corner, with his lw 6 squares away from the corner, and 3 knights nearby. Black has teleported his 1hp wisp into the corner, his only unit. White should kill his own bw so as to get at the wisp.
4. white has 1 scout and one barrier in the center at the front, both at full health, the scout has one wait.
black has one cleric with 6 health, in range of the scout no matter where it moves, and a knight with 14 health that is on the opposite side of the field. White should barrier the knight so that the knight can't get healed more than 1 hit to kill, giving him the sure win. Otherwise black would have a chance at a win.
Not very hard riddles :p

How would furgon-scout work? you'll end up walling yourself in, and if they paralyze your scout you draw

How would furgon-scout work? you'll end up walling yourself in, and if they paralyze your scout you draw
Step 1: wall yourself in
Step 2: thin the wall using scout
Step 3: use furgon to thicken wall
Step 4: repeat steps 2 and 3 until frosts are trapped and scout can kill them without risk.
Note: Be sure to never allow furgon in a place where it can be frozen and scout can't defocus frost without being frozen itself.

or you could just shrub around one or both the frosts. Then just pick them off with the scout.

You lose at step one. And yes, I'd be happy to show you next time I see you on.
