This thread is here for one purpose and for one purpose only the Bad Luck Beat.
Here is where you will come to cry over that scout frontal on the first turn which of course, cost you the game.
Waaaaaaaa, 2 sides hits in a row on my Knight, forgetting of course that was your only unit left as the guy your playing has 8 of his on his side of the board.. (must have cost you the game as well).
Your So lucky That I misclicked... (even though I let you take it back)
Yes, we are here to celebrate all the reasons why we lost.
Its never that maybe, just maybe the person your playing, played better than you during that one game.
How could that be.. No one, not a single person is better than you at Tao..
We all Fail in comparison.
So here you will come.. Let it out... its ok...
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! you lucky Son of ah...........

It a poker reference... its like if you have a full house kings and aces... but someone has a better hand, bigger full house or better.. its called a bad luck beat..
Plus, I like the it sounds better then Whiner..

I almost asked if it was a poker reference. I've always heard bad beat though. Not bad luck beat. Unless you added that to make it more appropriate.

It's a bad luck beat when they catch a river to beat you or runnerrunner after the flop.
It'd be like having a sure win but them getting a 1% block to stay alive.

If you are playing a flush draw and catch it on the river, would that count as a bad luck beat for the other player? Lets see u had two clubs in your hand and caught 1 on the flop and 1 on the turn.
Srs question for pun, btw.

I'm not punishment but I am probably qualified to answer this. Aaaaaand... it depends. The question is way too general, more specific information about the hand is needed - relative positions, stack sizes, previous actions, reads, etc etc. But in a very general way - it's a "bad beat" for the other player if you had to call bet(s) that didn't give you sufficient pot odds to call.
And really, it's not really being lucky there, percentages for this kind of thingy tend to be around 20% or so, happens all the time. Aces losing to 27 isn't such a horrible luck either. But say, flopping a top set and having your opponent catch runner runner quads is a bad beat in my eyes. Chance of that happening is about 0,1%.

Right that's what I'm saying.. a bad luck beat to me would be if both of you have 3 of a kind and you pull the 4th match on the river.. THATS bad luck.
But playing specifically for a hand the entire deal and then getting on the river doesnt qualify as a bad beat to me, i think that's what I was trying to protray or ask. I don't play a lot of poker personally.

So, I beat DarkFirePhoenix about 2 years ago with a 0% chance of blocking with my DSM. He immediatly quit, and was very angry.
I, on the other hand, was very happy about my +20 stat gain.
Kinda backwords but it was the only game I have ever had something like that happen. Made me very happy.

I would say if the opposing player goes all in with an already good hand, and you make the poor call by putting a considerable amount of chips into the pot with just a draw then it would be a bad beat for the other player if you catch it.
As lemon said, the chance of catching the 5th card of a flush on the river,. you have to assume, is 20-25%. So yes, I'd consider it a bad beat if you call and catch it.
Anytime you go runner runner anything to beat someone, it's a bad beat for them
