The Parasite: This unit is itself incapable of much action, but it's true power lies in the abilities of other units and enhancing those. When alongside a unit, the parasite can take control of them completely, enhancing the effects of the unit for the duration of the battle.

Stats:

HP: 24
Armor: 0
Blocking: 20% front, 10% sides
Power: --
Recovery: 0
Movement Range: 1
Attack Range: 1

Special Stats:

HP: -10%
Armor: +20%
Blocking: 1.4 multiplier (ie - 70% becomes 84%)
Power: +50%
Recovery: +1
Movement: -1
Attack Range: No Effect

I picture the ability as completely removing the Parasite from battle when activated and altering the stats of the unit attacked as according to the special stats, however if required by game design instead of killing off the parasite and permanently enhancing the target it could just be a focus effect. I used percentage increases for it so that balance of individual units is still maintained slightly, but yet this unit is unable to ever become obsolete just because the rest of your creatures are so powerful.

If the parasite "attacks" any unit that unit is placed under control of the parasite owner and it's stats are modified. Though the unit becomes much more resistant to attacks and incredibly harder hitting, it suffers a cutback in speed and toughness (move and Hp) due to the changes in it's system. If possible a change in appearance of affected units would be cool, but easiest to code would just be a spell effect animation on the unit.

So far I am pretty new to the game, so it will probably need some decent tweaking on the stats, but the general idea is that you have a unit which cannot survive on it's own very long and moves incredibly slow, but if the enemy is foolish enough to move in range you can take advantage of that mistake. Most people would place the parasite on the backline and either enhance a quick moving unit or even their cleric (would give a bonus to healing strength). However, placing the unit on the frontline in hopes that you HAPPEN to have it right by an opponent piece, and go first, could alter a strategy for risk takers.

Dead removed or temporarily?
Oh, and good idea.

Dead as in for the rest of the battle is gone. At the next battle you would have your parasite back and whatever unit he previously inhabited would be back to normal stats. (and owner of course)
