The Tribunal

The Tribunal is a clan on the Banff server on Tacticsarena.com, headed by Office_Shredder, its founder. The Tribunal is unlike any other clan. Our goal is to follow strict impartiality, with the belief that there is no "evil" or "good," only honor. This means that l337 and anti-l337 clans are both not wrong in their beliefs, as long as they follow through on them with a strict sense of morals. The Tribunal is dedicated to upholding a sense of honor throughout the TAO community. Immoral acts include n00b slaying through misrepresentation, using filtered names, trying to get opponents to close their window through pressing key combinations, and others which will be covered in the Code of Morals.

The Tribunal is dedicated to upholding the ethics that govern the TAO community on the Banff server. We are tired with people who feel they must cheat, steal and lie their way to the top of the rankings, and our goal is to find them out and prosecute them. We also will accept charges brought up by non-members of the community based on the evidence they can present to us. The Tribunal is structured much like the modern day American judicial system, with an open court proceeding, with the exception that the general public is also able to voice their opinion in the actual court system. Our mission is to weed out those who break the common ethics found on TAO, and punish them if found guilty by the clan, and the community as a whole.

I am Jeffery of Banff, leader of the Athenians. My clan has rules much like your own dealing with honour. I would like to suggest an alliance between our clans.

My clan has focused on training noobs, and teaching them the honorable way to fights, as well as teaching tactics and politeness. The membership is quite open for the clan, and occasionally there has been problems with members, but for the most part they are good people.

I have seen your website before, and respect both you and your clan. However, I will have to ask the rest of my clan about any kind of an alliance. The Tribunal favors impartiality, and really the only way I can talk about an alliance is if the rest of my clan thinks it is a good idea.

So, the call goes out to all the people currently in the clan, or who are just waiting to get invited into the clan (Since you will be in it soon enough hopefully:) ) PM me letting me know what you think about an alliance with The Athenians.

A notice to all members in the clan.

There is a clan on the Armaggedon server called K.K.K. In the general discussion forum it has been said that the members of this clan are racist, which would also seem intuitive. I suggest we try and get some screenshots of members in this clan, and possibly some racist remarks they make.

Agreed. Anyone who as any information on the K.K.K should post it here. Concerning clan alliences, I believe it would be counterproductive to have an alliance with anyone. This would ruin the impariality or neutrality that our clan is supposd to have.

To all the greys in The Tribunal. Whenever they wipe the server of all free accounts, simply let me know when you re-make your account, and I will let you back in. I figured I should post this as we approach the next month.

I would like to report that after getting on army to check if any members of the K.K.K. clan were on, I statted BlackIce911 and he is no longer in the clan. I didn't see anyone else from the clan on, so perhaps it has blown over.

Since freewebs sucks and some people can't see our website,, I'm posting a copy of our Code of Honor here:

The Code of Honor is the official set of rules created by both The Tribunal and the TAO community as a whole. It is what all levels of The Tribunal will use when deciding on level of guilt and punishment. It will also hopefully be a guide of how to act while playing TAO.



1. Respect the game, the creators of the game, and the people who play the game. This is a game, and should be played as one. Losing is no reason to go off on a string of curses, and being mad at the mods is no reason to spam how bad the game is.

2. Do not hunt newbs by misrepresentation or selection. This means that asking in the lobby chat whether there are any new people who want to play, when you are an experienced veteran, is not allowed. Neither is jumping anyone you see with a rating much lower than you, but no one who is able to beat you consistently. However, just placing your avatar on a table and waiting to get jumped is allowed, as is jumping anyone you see regardless of stats. Naturally, it is allowed for new players to ask around for other new players.

3. Do not make a second account as a vassal for your main account to accumulate points. This means that it is highly immoral, and unallowed, for players to make a second account to play against their first account with the intention of surrendering on the first turn to accumulate points faster on their main account. Playing against yourself to test a set up is allowed, as long as the battle is played out to its end and whichever account is winning gets the win.

3a. Playing against another player who has the intention of surrendering without cause, because it is in the same context as rule 3.

4. Do not ask your opponent to do something that will get him/her booted from the game. This includes, but is not limited to, telling them to press key combinations such as F5, or alt+F4. It also includes asking things like "what is asl?" with the knowledge that when your opponent says "sex" he/she will get booted from the filter. Also do not make a name which hides a word banned by the filter with the intention of other people statting you and getting kicked off. This covers cases where people make names like AbyssExpert, which includes the word 'sex' in the middle, with the intention of other people trying to stat them in the middle of a game, and getting booted off. However, if an honest mistake is made, the person with the invalid name will not be punished as long as s/he makes a new account.

4a. As a followup to rule 3, clan or account names which use offensive, but not necssarily filtered, words should also be avoided. Not everyone who plays this game is ready to be exposed to that kind of language, so let's all try to keep it to a minimum.

5. Do not make any racist, sexist, etc. remarks. This also applies to account names, clan names, and every other part of the game. No explanation needed here.

6. Do not spam in the lobby or in a game. Spamming is very frustrating for people who want to talk, and even in a battle someone may be talking to his/her clan members. Spamming is designed as repeatedly, or even just once, saying something with no purpose other than to say something, fill up text space in the lobby, or say random curse words. Spamming is also a sign of disrespect, and should be avoided.
