Advertising

I realize that we're on fark.com, but I think we might want to spread our evil circle of influence to outside regions of the internet. Seeing as how I no longer support tao with my gold account, I took the liberty of designing these. Maybe we could secure some adspace on gaming, webcomic, humor, etc. sites, and garner support in that manner. I made these as a present to you wonderful people, as I no longer support tao with my gold account. If you want, and if I am able to do so, I might be able to secure spots on some sites on my own, but they'd have to be cheap since i'm a broke high schooler :p

Anyways, here are the banners I've made so far. Credits for images go to Seed and FuryFX, and your lovely logo.

These two go as a pair. They'd be part of a capmpaign of similar advertisements. They're slightly obscure for a reason, since the simplicity and Seed's kickass drawings kick in visitor's curiosity. If Seed makes more of these, a campaign would be possible.

This one took the longest of the four. I actually had to bring my laptop outside, desktop showing, make sure there was no glare, cut it out in photoshop, and then complete the banner. This one is a more standard advertisement.

Fury FX's pictures make perfect advertisements. They're beautiful, astounding, perfect. This one's simple, and follows the same general layout as #3.

You may not use any of these, but I worked hard, and I pass them on to you :)

And DivineRight, i'm sorry for the two little tiffs we had while the whole asshole purge was going on a few weeks ago. I rescinded them before and I rescind them again. I appreciate fully what you guys have done for we the consumers. Thank you.

I have an idea you might try... with photoshop, you got image ready, correct?

You could try making them animations...

like... somehow combine them all...


for the last one... you could pan it... as to show the entire image.... if you catch my drift..

I like the idea for panning the entire image, but how would I combine them all? I could see Ads 1 and 2 and etc for that series being added together to show all the units, but I don't see how the white banner would really fit. :confused:

And thank you, Merforga, for youse compliment. Maybe there is an owner for a wildly successful website that plays tao, and would be willing to free up adspace for free. Or not. :) I'm thinking, though, that if we played it right, we could earn back and exceed the cost of putting them up. Maybe get a per hit plan on a good game site or webcomic. I think Penny Arcade has fairly cheap advertising, and their the most hit comic site on the web.

Right; the problem isn't lack of people as much as it is lack of Golds, I don't think.

It took me most of the day to do them all, but the vast majority was spent on the laptop, though it doesn't look it. I couldn't get the glare to go away on the screen, so I finally had to capture an image of the screen and transform it onto the cut out picture of my computer. They were fun to do. The pics were all from Legends, true, but this brings up another point: we need a gallery. Just thought it might need saying. Bob Marley and 3dots are quite good artists, and I'm sure there are others out there who would contribute. I would.

I'm e-mailing Penny Arcade to see if they'll host the image. It's probably not free, but at least I'll find out how expensive it is.

I was talking about the server that shall not be named.... They have 50 people in the lobby there at any given time, it takes 15 minutes to get in and its often down - hence more advertising will do no good. It was in reply to McFrog-ah's post

LeiChan: Sure, I can make one for you. Would you like to keep the same image, but with your name and custom numbers, or would you like an entirely different card altogether?

Neutered Hamster: You're right, they're almost as cryptic as the verb commercials. Maybe I'll add the logo and maybe a tagline to those images. Banners shouldn't have essays on them though, since usually they're only seen for a couple of seconds. You need to grab them fast. I know that's not what you meant, i'm just posting this for the hell of it, I guess :)

If you don't want to use it, it's fine, and I'll edit this post to have a link to the one that is to your earlier stated specifications.

Back to the card subject at hand. I found a site that can do full-color printing of plastic credit card thickness cards, .08 cents per card, starting at 1000 card quantity (80.00). If we printed frequent player cards, each with unique ids, for ten dollars people could purchase the card, which could reward them when they entered a code with double gold privelages, or whatever other privelages you like. It would also be a symbol of their devotion to tao, and also a nifty piece of furyfx art. You'd also make a profit off of the deal.

I also think we should reconsider the printing of the playing cards. EVERYONE would buy Fury FX TAO playing cards. I'd buy a couple packs. You need to get into merchandise :p

I think you should make a new topic about it and get more support (or bump the old one) and then we just need to kidnap fury and make him draw the units then some how get the money to pay for them (I think quicks can do that) then we use the profit to buy me a car :D

We should kidnap Seed and Fury and make them slave over these cards... It would be a great source of revenue. They're both awesome artists. I like Seed's work better tho, it's more detailed.
