Ive been trying to start playing TAO for several hours now and I can't load the GUI. I keep getting 'timed out' messages and seeing repeatedly that stupid white window. I tried opening TAO on IE, Mozzilla, Netscape and Opera, all with Flash installed, with no result. Can anybody help me? :(

Clear your history and temporary internet files and reboot your computer.
If that doesn't work, deleate your cookies, and then reboot. That should work.

If you play at school or at work, a firewall could also be the problem. Ask your admin to open up the right ports so you can do something really useful.

Aro- hey, i don't know too much bout computers so i may be wrong, but isn't deleting cookies bad?

deleting cookies wont do jack to ur system (bad anyway) cookies r the things that store ur username and passwords and other things of that nature so u dont always have to enter them into a website when u come back... deleting them will cause u no harm whatsoever and might just fix ur problem, so follow aro's advice

Deleting cookies, temporary internet files and history and turning firewall off didnt work. Btw, is the server always full?

GL is full a lot lately, try one of the others.

How? I understand you get to choose the server after the client has loaded, but mine hasn't  I mean, at www.tacticsarnea.com/play/ I keep seeing
'Login Notes :
Server full. - You must wait for a free connection before you can login.
New version available. - You must reload the game from THIS webpage. '
EVERY TIME, but at least all three servers seem online:confused: What can I do to load the GUI?

okay, do u have any sort of pop-up blocker? that be be causing u problems depending on the setting u have it on...
http://www.tacticsarena.com/play/
go there, click the big gold lettered Play Tactics Arena Online button... now from here i assume this is where ur getting that white window? if u have a pop-up blocker turn it off, turn firewall off, etc. try again, if it loads, then create ur account and have fun, if not well... :/
oh and ignore the Login Notes: thing... it is only for special situations, for instnace if u try and log onto a server and it tells u its full, or it tells u there is a new version available (press F5 and it should load the latest version)

????
and that had what to do with the price of tea in china? i believe Siquo uses WinXP without to much difficulty (except for that random freeze up eh?) so that shouldnt be ur problem

Apart form IE being JavaScript - blind and me being unable to install 50% of software due to an 'unregistered interface' factor, Outlook being 15 months long dead and several other features, everythings fine.
Does TAO work on Linux?
Oh, and my friend from whom ive heard about this game recently had his Windows XP reinstalled and everything is in working order, including TAO. I think I should find myself a WXP boot CD...
Thanks for your help anyway.

Reinstalling winXP every few months is strongly advised.
Ctrl+F5 does a forced refresh, really refreshing it. But by the sound of it, I'd just buy a new computer if I were you ;)

Lol i bought a new harddrive and borrowed RedHat 8.0 from a friend. I hope it works :)
Oh, and it isn't as bad as it sounds. Most programs run flawlessly, if I get to install them. I know it may sound weird, but it has never ever frozen.
TAO's fun. I played at school. Lost a battle and won two.

errr... RedHat 8.0? ur about major 2 revisions behind my friend... RedHat actually doesnt do OS's anymore (except for businesses) if i were u i would try to get my hands on a copy of mandrake, or heck, even gentoo, that thing flys if u can learn to compile ur own source and crap

It was the nearest thing to Linux I could get my hands on

ah, gotcha... well it will work, but if u ever do come across a more recent copy of linux (redgat, mandrake, whatever) i suggest u install it over the current version of linux u r installing, seeing as how 8.0 is well over a year old, but for now it should work :)

You know, I think somebody around here hates me.
Reinstalling Windows XP didn't help. Runing TAO on Linux doesn't help either. I keep getting blank screen. My friends use Linux and XP and it works. Mine doesnt. Great, how can I contact somebody who actually wrote this thing? Ive got this strange feeling that this thing doesn't support one very precise connection type - MINE.

what kind of connection type do u have?

Adsl, but a Polish one. S@gem Fast 800 Modem through USB.

no idea why that wouldnt work... does this occur on all flash games/apps or just TAO? regardless though, i think ur screwed as far as playing this on ur machine :(

Dunno... Do you know any other Flash games that i could try? Normal apps work ok
drakonfire

go to www.addictinggames.com they have lots of flash games there... they also have java, so search around and if u find some games that dont wanna work for u, and they r flash u may have ur problem, but since normal flash apps still work, i dunno why TAO wouldnt

This is getting a bit irritating. Both the games on the site you mentioned and macromedia testers seem to be working. TAO isn't. I'll just have to find someone thats using a connection like mine and ask him if it works zzz...
-----------
Oh great, it works. But not mine. Mine doesn't. It just bloody works on my connection. Ive got this strange feeling somebody _hates_ me.
Btw, I played a battle at school and my opponent surrendered when I was winning 10 units to 5 :)
-----------
Man I'm stupid. Why didn't I think of this earlier? If it works from other computers and doesn't work on mine, use the other ones. A little experiments with proxy and voila! Meet you on Banff :D
