I'm brand new. I've heard people mention different color accounts.

I know Gold = pay account

I've also heard grey, purple and others. I can't find info for these. I'm assuming grey is normal and the others are ficticious accounts, like some people's sex lives.

Am I correct?

There are only two types of accounts, grey and gold. Gold is 5 bucks a month, grey is free. There have been suggestions they come out with more kinds of accounts, but so far they haven't made any more.

Perhaps they were referring to the color of people's avatars?

It's possible I misconstrued a comment, however reading the forums it seems there are a lot of people who like to BS to try and fool noobs.

My very first game someone hit me with 'you need to hit f5 to set your options...'

When playing against someone brand new you should be able to beat them anyways. Pulling crap like that is pretty juvenile.
