View Full Version : N00B Slayer Strategy... just for super-duper slaughtering FUN!

Alright...

1) Most n00bs do not move their units in the setup.... at ALL!! I have seen this countless times.... Therefore, to kill their Cleric first turn, put a DMW (Dark Magic Witch) one space to the left or right of Foward Center (center being occupied by Lightning Ward to keep those pesky spell casters away, or draw in knights) and move the DMW front and center between the two armies far enough to kill the Cleric and damage a knight...

2) Most n00bs have no idea that the Lightning Ward does not take damage from knights.... so naturally I put my LW up front to draw in their spell casters or draw in the knights/assasins so I can surround them with MY knights and kill them quickly....

Those are my two main strategies against newbs.... and they work. Oh yes, they work. I also bait n00bs in the lobby.... hehehe

lol AzN_Guy has a point, why not take on a challenge from a more expierienced fighter and get hard earned wins instead of being cheap....

Oh, believe me.... I only do this if I feel like it.... most of the time I try to challenge myself against an experienced players... but once in awhile it's just great fun to slaughter a newbie....

Just finished a horribly lopsided game.... when I won, I had three knights left, my scout, my DMW, my Lightning Ward, my Barrier Ward, and my cleric....

Any decent strategy = slaughter of the n00b.

I never challenge anyone, I just pick a field and wait for an opponent. If a n00b is dumb enough to take me on it's their fault.

LOL.... I had some guy try to tell me I could make my units invisible if I pressed F5... I said

"Sorry buddy, I'm not a n00b... lol"
"relly it wrks!"
"No."
"Eet my ball sak 4evr!"

LOL. He left after I was in the process of slaughtering him

You don't need strategy to slaughter n00bs... I just played a guy who used the Pyromancer ON HIMSELF. TWICE. Maybe he thought it was the cleric.

honestly, is the f5 trick cheating? i mean, if you tell them, "don't try using the f5 cheat." and they use it, aren't they the ones who are trying to cheat? what do you guys think about this?

ultraexactzz
12-08-2003, 09:39 AM
I think anything that attempts to provoke your opponent into doing something colossally stupid is cheating. I had a guy this morning try to tell me that using my witch on my cleric would actually heal him "due to his connection with the magic forces of the earth." I laughed, and told him to show me how to do it. He then dropped.

If you have to win by tricking people into hitting F5, Alt-F4, or whatever, then you have bigger issues than morality.

ego problems... you're the kinda person who tells a homeless man that you left 5 dollars change in the garbage compactor down at the dump yesterday just so he'll get up and you can take his seat.

so i ask a question about what you guys think about people who do this, and you automatically assume that I actually do this?

not only that, but how does me asking a question about what you think of people who use the f5 "tactic", and you think that it relates to me stealing a homeless mans seat? this is the only post i've made on this message board, so i'd really like to know how you gained this knowlege of my supposed "ego" problems.

and how do ego issues have anything at all to do with stealing a homeless mans seat?

wow, you took a screen shot of my friend and i playing a game. did i use the f5 "tactic" on him? did i steal a virtual homeless persons seat? obviously, he's not a n00b (gold member with over 100 games won), so how does this in ANY way have ANYTHING to do with what we're talking about currently?

I cannot belive people would think of such stupid things like tricking a noob to press F5 ! If your the kinda playa that noob bashes then you truly are the biggest noob yourself. And the best part is while you spend all your time devising ways to trick noobs I am spending time devising strats on how to crush opponets the fare way.

And one day, maybe not anytime soon. But one day we will meet and you will be a victim of -=Z=- ! Just like all da rest !

tac·tic
n.
An expedient for achieving a goal; a maneuver.

you don't have to be new to the game to know what f5 and alt+f4 does. my first day, i had about 7 people tell me that i should push f5 to bring up a cheat menu. i've been messing around with computers for a while now, so i realized what f5 would do. besides, why would anyone trust anyone on the internet.

i never actually answered as to how i feel about using the f5 "tactic". (yes, i'll continue to call it a "tactic", because technically, by the definition of the word itself, that's exactly what it is.)

personally, i think that during a game, your opponent is willing to do anything they can in order to win. this includes many different tactics. for example, "trash talking", good strategy, seeming "mistakes" to lure their opponent in, and sometimes, for shadier people, they will use flat-out trickery. if a person is gullible enough to believe someone they're playing a game agains't on the internet, then they will end up falling victim to their opponent.

in short, i don't think anything is out of bounds, i don't use every strategy i could every game, just because of the fact that sometimes, i don't need to. but sometimes, it's nice to have that ace in the hole...whatever it may be.

personally, i think "your momma" jokes are an effective tactic.

oh, and...

n00b (pronounced: newbie, or rhymes with "boob")
n.
a person who is new to something.

n00b doesn't mean stupid, people, and that's where some of you are taking it. it's ridiculous to say things like, "if you do this, you are the n00b". n00b is not a snynonym for jerk, meanie, shady character, or anything else like that. a n00b simply someone who is new to the game. obviously, if a person has been playing long enough to get a few wins/losses under their belt, they could never be referred to as "a n00b".

oh, and i love you all.

edit: while i'm typing this up, this is what happened...

notice the poster talking about how anyone who uses f5 on a n00b should be banned is the same person who admits to using it? that's comedy

sure, he says that he's saying he was trying to explain to someone how to quit the game, but i don't buy that. why wouldn't anyone not know how to quit the game.

and,

I respectfully disagree. n00b is an insult, not just someone new to the game. As Forrest Gump was fond of saying, "Stupid is as stupid does."

From The New Hacker's Dictionary:
newbie /n[y]oo'bee/ n.

[verry common; orig. from British public-school and military slang variant of `new boy'] A Usenet neophyte. This term surfaced in the newsgroup talk.bizarre but is now in wide use. Criteria for being considered a newbie vary wildly; a person can be called a newbie in one newsgroup while remaining a respected regular in another. The label `newbie' is sometimes applied as a serious insult to a person who has been around Usenet for a long time but who carefully hides all evidence of having a clue.

Yea i had a guy try that on me the other day, i also had an opponent try to beat me by insisting he had surrendered then saying his Surrender button wasn't working and telling me to leave the arena. I suppose you could call me a n00b but neither worked, i am not stupid. (And this is really low, if you cant beat a n00b in a fair game then you really must be bad.)

What do you do if someone is just sitting there letting time run out?

On the one hand, they may not have noticed it's their turn, so it's only fair to warn them.

OTOH, they may be stalling hoping to win the game that way. If I tell them that you lose if your timer runs out, they'll just let each turn run almost out and then move, it'll take ages to finish the game. I've played against a few n00bs like that, it's very frustrating.

So I just say "er... your turn" and leave it at that. Usually they let time run out and LOSe :D ahahaha! ;)

I only face a n00b if I'm trying a new strategy out. I don't want to face an experienced player and get killed if its a bad strategy. I have been beaten by n00bs doing this but I figure I stand more of a chance fighting them than facing someone that's 50-2-15.

As for using F5 or refresh to lure opponents into losing; I would never do that. I think that only losers do those kinds of things.

Actually, you never know. You just might have a bad game, or they happen to be very skilled right off...in any case, intentionally playing a newbie is not a guaranteed win, even if you play your best. Besides, different lineups call for different strategies to use agianst them. For example, if an Enchantress or Dragon Tyrant is included in the opponent's lineup, try to knock them out of the fight as quickly as you can.

An anecdote to prove my point: I just got out of a game with a guy who had only played 1 game before facing me, and if it weren't for a series of lucky blocks by my knight and an intimate knowledge of the range of a Lightning Ward, I could have easily wound up the loser. But as it stands, I now have a Great Lakes record of 39 wins and 25 losses.

Good idea, if you do it well, but I've won a lot of games where my opponent throws everything at the dragon and I focus on the lead in each attack. By the time they kill my dragon, I've gotten three or four of their units, mostly targeting mages and scouts where I can.
