I'm hurt, I thought I was pretty decent! For what its worth, I can't vote on this one... I've played Stupid Girl, but she said she was off her game that day and I beat her. If JeRs is supposed to be Jens, I came out a winner of that match too. The rest I haven't even seen when I'm on, let alone played, so I can't be a good judge of their skill. I do think that Back Guard (if he's still around) and Robin F. Hood should rank as well; I beat both of them, but they were very good players... While I'm at it, what about yup?

Back Guard is me. I play on Banff and Rev now under the name Mnrogar. I've been gold for a while so I probably totally suck as a grey now and I don't think I could have beaten consistenly the greys mentioned here although I've never fought any of them. Anyway, thanks for the vote.:) I think the best greys I've played on GL were jaro, Cephas and haywood jablome.

Now that you mention Jens being Il Duce we're in the same ballpark. I played him when he was in the guild and won that match, but I think his setup is more geared toward gold hunting, whereas I've stuck to fighting greys for the most part (that's changing now though, I'm working on my anti-gold formation).

yup seems to be gone since the last wipe, which is really too bad. With him and back guard gone, we've lost two really good greys!

Personally, I think its hard to pick a best. I dont remember playing any of the people up there, sides from Il Duce and Mixedbizz... But I was able to beat Mixedbizz - great game - and again, Ive only deadlocked Il Duce.

Things just go one way or another too often. The only real way would be to hold a tournament, I think.

I've found GL a more fun place to bout in that Banff, so I only spent about three days days there when Banff was up and GL was down. Curiously, no Banff unit drops durng that time.. I guess I'm highly unlucky there. I made it to about 1050 before I returned to GL. Here, I'm still looking forward to getting a second Cleric to complement my Chanty horde.. the rating is in the upper 1200s. Hopefully sufficient to give even you a challenge.

Heh, even I'd take that bet. I don't think that there is anyone who using only grey units could beat every person on that list. At the level many of the best greys play, the game is decided by a single mistake, or the luck of one hit.

Any one of the Jumpers that I recruited I'd be comfortable adding to that list, when I recruit them, they play me to prove they can think when they play.

whoa guys, let's take a step back and relax. Even the best players can have a bad game. I've played the brothers, and while I beat them, I think they were pretty good. Someone who plays noobs would complain bitterly at someone like me robbing their stats, because mine are typically pretty low, they congratulated me on a good game and went on. You don't have to be the cream of the crop to get a high rating, you just have to play reasonably well, and reasonably often.

Im hearing alot about people who get 1450+ stats or whatever. I got to 1488 and I can make a brand new grey. The 750 stats are just a cover-up considering im the same person who had 1488. Who cares about if they get to 1400+ regularly. Some of those greys that get that high wont even play a gold. I know many old-school greys who never refuse golds (noob or not) and still win. I don't really play as Applesauce anymore but I use other greys so I don't think it should be based on people getting their stats high regularly. My list would have to be Ceph, Shiny, Tcbb, Hool (even though he was dominated :rolleyes: ) Phone, Xyx, and Hatchet. These guys dont refuse games from anyone unless they are a stats giver or a 500.

These guys are the top greys. And no, they dont only play greys. Most of them reside to play golds. They still kick ass too.

You might not know orcstorm. He never talked, never registered on the forums. Me and him got a game one day. He is probally one of the smartest if not the smartest grey I have ever seen.

When I played him he was 1420. First game was very close, a knight battle and he got me. I asked him for a rematch. I was on my 830 name. He gladly said yes, and another long tough game begin. These guys are the top greys. And no, they dont only play greys. Most of them reside to play golds. They still kick ass too.

You might not know orcstorm. He never talked, never registered on the forums. Me and him got a game one day. He is probally one of the smartest if not the smartest grey I have ever seen.

Well, I just got out of an excellent match with JaRs just earlier. I emerged victorious and, although there was a knight front shot, the other knight hit it right back from the front. One of the best matches I've had in a while.

JeRs and JaRs are brothers? I have to play JeRs sometime.

I must admit that the whole story isnt that bad as it sees. Match wanted to try to play with a mage bomb, where most of the units were pyros :). But it WAS a random 740 noob grey and it was right before the reset.

Cronus is sick too. I won the game but barely, it came down to 2 knights, my bw, cleric, and chanty vs his knight, chanty, scout, bw (out of range though) and cleric.

Before that I had three knights, which was even more fun. Finally a gray game where I had to think using my chanty, so much fun. I ended up using my chanty to lure his and killed it, he could've gotten mine next but he missed it. Then I got tired and screwed up. I could've sworn my chanty switched sides.. traitorous wench! :bigsmile:

It's fun to do that as a new gold, but even more fun as a gray who beats golds. I remember Spirit Knight jumped me once.. heheheheh. I've got that ss somewhere.

As far as Swartz' list goes...

Match and I fought a really close game in our only grey game (on Revs), but as is the case with most of our games, we both got disconnected because of some server issue and it never finished. :p In the end, I had a 6 HP Assassin, Knight, Scout, LW to his Assassin, Scout, LW, BW, and Knight... I had him in a position where he couldn't use his BW, but I couldn't use my assassin either (as the first to use would die). He played a real good game, and he probably would have won it were it not for the server fart. (Scratch that, he still got the points and the Cleric.)

The only game I've ever fought with Ceph was my Gold Jumpers tryout, and it was actually sort of one-sided. Cephas could have easily dominated me with little effort, but if memory serves me right his second-rank BW was taken relatively early, and his Chanty was neutralized shortly after (having had problems with the like before)... Even so, Ceph won with five units to my... LW... Or was it four? I remember having to resort to front hits in order to keep him from making side hits, I MIGHT have killed a unit in the process, I can't remember.

Anyway. On to ScoutBlade.

I honestly can't recall facing Scoutblade, although some rumors say he beat me and others say he flawlessed me... Provided I see him around, I should give him a grey game. Same goes for you, Hool. I need to redeem myself for the ass-whooping you put on me in our gold games.
