what would add some interesting new element to the game would have different countrys such as you have britain with knights and clerics and such then you have the choice of choosing chinese in which case there dragons look different they don't have knights they have pikes men and each country has a special unit like britian has a sorta elite knight which could be a king and he'd have a larger sword and possibly even riding a horse and you could do it with each country but instead of getting them right off the bat you must first win them from having a large number of wins

That does spark some pretty neat ideas. I imagine a program could be released that would allow you to just edit the character models (well, because of the character animations it might be more complicated than the average player would want to mess with). But it would be a fun thing if people could spend the time to make their own character models as that wouldn't effect game play and might add an interesting/fun dynamic to the community.
"Did you see DragonSlayer0029's new cleric model?! It's sweet! Lets all download it so we can play with it"

I don't think making your own models would work. In games like Half-Life and The Sims, you can make your own models and skins because there all the files are on your computer. If you edit the right file, it'll change your model. Here, however, this is all done in Flash, so it's all server-side. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure there isn't a way for Flash to access files on your computer, even if they wanted it to (imagine if Flash could--can you say hacker Flash programs?).
So, in order for it to work, there might be a way for you to host the new files online, and give the Settings area a box to type in a URL for the models. However, if I had to guess they don't have Flash actually using 3D models, but instead made the models in some other program and just have 2D images of them. So you'd have to host a buttload of 2D images of the 3D models you made, and then somehow they'd have to reprogram Flash to look where you told it to for the files.
In short, sorry, but I doubt it could be feasably done. And even if it could, I'd rather have that insane amount of time put into new units, etc.

Ahh... I didn't really think about the flash being server side and not being able to access files on your computer. You would have to host the images, which makes everything less feasable.
