LOL!! I agree. However, seeing as he was referring to "basball" it obviously does not apply to him. :)

GO SOX! I'm a Braves fan now, living in the south, but the Sox are one of my favorites. If I go to Tufts next year, I'll become diehard. Anyone but the DAMN YANKEES! They have 7 of the top 12 highest paid players in the AL and are still 5-8! HAHAHA speaking of which, have any of you baseball fans read Moneyball? I highly recommend it, great baseball book, makes you look at the game in a whole new way.

I used to like the yankees until Steinbrenner did that... I live in NJ so I've basically been a fan my whole life. Anyone else pissed off about what he did? They'll pick up, but I'm not sure I want them to...

But my team is really...
*drumroll*
the A's! Eric Chavez is my favorite player - you ever seen some of the plays he makes? Not to mention his hitting. And of course, Billy Beane is a genius. Anyone else like them? Betcha I'm the only east-coast A's fan that you know.;)

I grew up in georgia, so i guess i'm a Braves fan by default. Actually truth be told i was a braves fan up until they started winning consistently, then it just got kinda boring when all you really have to look forward to is being disappointed yet again that they didn't get to/win the series.

Kyrios, you should definitely read Moneyball if you haven't already...it's all about the A's awesome reform of the typical baseball mentality. I like them a lot more after reading the book.

Even though the Mariners suck the enormous one this year, they are still my team, and when the Yankees come to town I will be in the stands FEROCIOUSLY booing A-Rod and Giambi with the fury of 1000 rabid baboons. Hell, if I drink enough beer, maybe 2000!

I don't get it. Why does America have the world series when only America plays? Surely someone must of thought about this when coming up the name.
I mean is this just cause they knew that if was actually inclusive of the whole world then countries like Cuba, Japan and even Taiwan would whip their arse?

Bring the flame.

*Stares at Duffman for an uncomfortably long time. Calmly finishes beer. Walks over to wall and grabs firehose. Turns water pressure on and blasts Duffman out of chair and into street. Watches while small children beat him senseless with whiffle bats* Bingo! * spits tobacco*

Baseball is one wonderful sport. You spend the entire game looking forward to the one moment in time when the winning run comes across the plate. It may be the last of a 21 run thundering or the only in a 1 run drought. Baseball is not a game like basketball or football where there is constant action. It's the sports world response to chess. Football, Basketball and Hockey are video games... fun to watch, some strategy involved, but you can sit back and watch someone else play. Baseball takes your mind to watch. Every game is a battle of one man verses another. The battles of trying to keep someone from crossing home plate with everything they have verses a force bent on trying to get home. So if Baseball is not your cup of tea, go ahead and go watch football or basketball as they run the scores up. There is nothing better in the sports world than watching the strategy behind a 1-0 win in the 12th inning.

Having said that, Go Bo-Sox!

ok, medemia, i like baseball too, but dont EVER say that baseball is the only stratedgy sport again, ESPECIALLY when comparing it to football. football pits man against man, with nearly every other variable taken out. tell ANY defensive or offensive coordinator that what they are doing doesnt take any stratedgy or preperation, then ill laugh and watch as they beat you sensless with their clipboard. that being said, i LOVE baseball, and it does take thought and preperation, but mostly from just the pitcher. all the other things are just 'reactions', i/e reacting to a ground ball when there is a runner on second, reacting to a pitch when you were thinking fastball, but a slider is about to hit you in the strike zone.

edit - and yes, the scores in football can get up there, but look at it this way you ninny. average way to score in football is 7 (six for tuchdown, one for p.a.t.). now, if there is a combined score of 35, that means that there were a total of FIVE 'scores', much lower than the average baseball game.

Hockey takes strategy, more than playing the field in baseball. I agree that basketball takes very little strategy, probally the least of any sport. However, hockey takes a lot of strategy, esp. for the coaches, they have to know who is going to work good together in a D pair or on a line, who they should put on the ice when the other teams best player is out there. Also, nothing I mean NOTHING is more exiting than a 5 OT game in the Stanely Cup playoffs. Ok, so 5 OT games are few and far between, but a 2 OT game is almost exiting.

Oh yeah, I play hockey and it's my favorite sport, I just can't believe my Stars lost in the first round of the playoffs.

On a side note:Ha Ha, I hope Barry Bonds gets stuck on the 666 HR mark for the rest of his life.

Braves fan right here. I really wish the would get good again. That's about all we have down here in Georgia. Basketball team... sucks... same with the hockey team. Team Vick is decent, but that's not saying much.

Serge

I think Vick kind of sucks, but team Ilya Kovalchuk and Dany Heatly was alive and kicking this year.

To whoever says baseball is boring because it moves too slow, I think that is what makes it so great. Few things are greater than going to the ballpark, getting your peanuts and cracker jack, and relaxing in your chair watching a sunny baseball game without worry about missing a huge play if you blink. It's so calming, yet still competitive, interesting, strategic, and entertaining. It's America's pasttime for a reason. Hooray for baseball!

I like baseball, but I am an Orioles fan. I guess it's 'cause VA doesn't really have a baseball team, so what ever.
