Ok, I know this has been suggested a billion times before, but my idea is different! I also never expect to see this actually go into effect, but I thought I would share anyways. Here goes;
As units damage and kill other units, they gain a bit of experience, after a bit of experience, they 'level'. This does nothing to affect the stats of said unit. The unit will never grow or decrease in power.
Instead, the unit will be given certain lables, almost like a kill 'post' count. After a unit has achieved a certian number of kills, perhaps they could have a custom, user-assigned label, such as 'Jack the Ripper', or whatever.
When a unit dies, thier experience goes to 0.

WOW, i like this idea, cept the part where if the unit dies, it loses experience, because you would never be able to keep a certain unit alive everygame. nice suggestion tho man, i love this idea.

You know, that isnt that bad of an idea. Probably very hard to implement, and will more than likely never happen, but it doenst affect gameplay, its just a bonus. Specifics are hard to get around, but even still, good general idea.

no paralysis does not kill a unit
i like this idea, only instead of dying and going back to zero, maybe it would drop 2 "levels" worth of namage?

Perhaps this is not where Seed's focus should be, but rather getting off his ass and giving us a new unit.
BTW... does Seed even own a donkey?:D

maybe experience could increase 'luck' or block percentage so that units with more experience would be harder to kill w/ physical attacks but wouldnt actually be stronger

By gaining ANY extra abilities, they become stronger. That's not the point of this thread at all.
And why didn't you just say *bump*?

Vicious, if units get higher blocking, then they would be better. I mean, that's just obvious.

which would make the strong stronger and the weak weaker...
talk about really making this game ridiculous

Major problem with making the blocking better or whatever:
People who do free wins would just jack up all their units to a ridiculous amount, and then make them next-to-unkillable.
But ya. the original idea is spanktastic.

Ya its very good but mayb not if hey die they lose experince and go back to normal..But the only unit that would stand up to a idea like that would b a dragon only facing greys.Very good though.

could give away strategies. obviously units that look like they are suiciding for a cleric kill or something but have a good nmae from xpo have a backup plan to get back safely.

I think that after the unit is defeated, it should slide back a name, or something of that sort, because if everytime it got killed it lost it's namage, then no one would have any cool names, unless of course they played noobs, and greys.

units of different levels could have slightly different graphics and be used as the avatar. a knight could get a fancier shield, shinier armor, and eventually a crown. a DMW could have robes that slightly trail on the ground and a different hat. a new staff for a pyro. shiny wings on a tyrant. feathered cap for scout. the possibilities are limitless.
an enchantress could gain levels by paralyzing units for longer amounts of time and paralysis victories. frostie as well.
a cleric could level by healing.
it would be a nice status symbol to have an avatar of the highest possible level

Well, obviously one would want to preserve his units. Even if behind enemy lines. ^^;;
