drop question

when there's a random drop, are you notified of it in the lobby? And do you have to be in a game at the precise moment the drop is announced to win it?
also can you win units from other people?

You have to be in battle when the sign comes up and win the battle to get the unit. You are notified in the lobby... the cause of the most swearing in the lobby in my view... especially for the cleric drop:D
