~Ball Lightning~

HP 40
Damage 20
Armor 0
Blocking 0
Recovery 1
Movement Range 7, straight line only. +teleport 3(?)

Does not have an attack phase... But deals damage by moving through a unit. Including Firendly units that do not move to the side for other firendly units.
Units who attack Ball Lightning are hit for damage*1/2 unblockable. (maybe limit to close range attacks only)
Cannot be the target of a lightning based attack (i.e. Lightning Ward)

Okay, How's this sound.... Or is it too non-sensical?

::EDIT:: Add "Does Not Step Aside For Friendly Units"
Not sure if i should allow friendly units to be able to pass through Ball Lightning but be forced to take damage for it instead of not stepping aside. That might just be too much work for Seed if he were to make this.

How can you slice a ball of lightning in two anyway? Or indeed control one? An interesting idea, but needs tweaking.

Maybe if i add "Does not step aside for friendly units" would that make it work a little bit better? And yes i agree it seems odd to be able to slice a ball of lightning in two or to even control one but if we assume that it is some sort of magically conjured creature made of pure lightning we could assume that the player would have some sort of control over the thing. As for attacking a Ball Lightning.... while in reality the idea might seem a little a strange we have to accept the idea of 'suspension of disbelief'. If units can cast fire balls and dragons can fly around killing people and Golems can teleport around a field we can easily grasp the idea that maybe a conjured creature of pure lightning could be harmed in some sort of way. I was considering making him immune to physical damage but that i think would unbalance him waaay too much so the idea that physical attacks would also damage an opponent seemed to balance it out a little. In essence the Ball Lightning would be most affected by being attacked by a magic attack... an idea that makes sense when assuming that it is not exactly a real physical manifestation of matter as lightning is actually a plasma. I figured the straight line movement would add a little more of chess to this game by making the ball lightning a rook and assuming that a ball of lightning would have a very simple movement plan instead of dodging and weaving and moving at strange angles. Any ideas to tweak this unit are much welcomed though.

Maybe this would be too much of a change from your original idea, but what if it was just a unit that shot these balls of lighting, like some type of wizard. Maybe they could only go in a straigh line, but they would hit all units in the line doing progressively less damage as they moved.

cut down on the movment
7 is wayyyyyy too much. thats moving more them half way across the board
i agree that it should not step aside 4 units to pass.
also i think it should not have 2 move in a strait line, that makes it underpowerd

other then that i think it is a good unit
just needs some tweaking

I made it 7 because of the straight line restriction. I assumed that iff it can't move in a normal radius like other units that i should give it a positive by allowing it too move really far. Plus, its not like its a very powerful unit so being able to move that far and hit a few units in a row would help balance it because of the restrictions imposed. But i do think that "Does Not Step Aside For Friendly Units" would make it work well also. As for the idea of Wizard shooting lightning bolts... Work on the idea and post it. I like the idea of an actual Ball Lightning fighting on my side.

:EDIT: I just had the urge to try to BUMP my post. I felt bad seeing in slowly move into obscurity.

I agree. it shouldn't have to move in a straight line. would it be able to stop in an enemy unit's square and do continuous damage?
