sry i didnt know that it would come out like that!!!
id say make your own, its more fun that way
fool around with any setup(even the startup one) and figure out how you play (defensivly, offensible, passive-aggressive) and your favotite units(enchanty, knights, witches/pyros(dont have any drops and you prolly shouldnt make a witch or pyro bomb yet), scout assasin(i think that its best when u use these two together).
always(almost) use your 3 knights and your archer. u should use a cleric for grey but its not tottaly needed. then figure out which of your units are the weakest(enchanty, pyro, witch, cleric) and figure out how they can be affective while still walling them with your knights(or other units, i dont sudgest putting witch or pyro in the back becouse it always seemed to me like it made them too useless and still an easy kill for scouts), never but witches or pyros in the front two rows( id say even third) and make sure that it works around how you enjoy playing, not how you see others play
also look at that strategy thread(it rocks) and that fansite(it has some basics)
rock on and peace out

i agree, make you're own, it's more fun (not trying to put you down for asking or anything, it really is more fun to have your own setup)
also, never, ever underestimate an enchantress :)
yeah, i wasnt tryin to put u down for asking
and as to the encantr, yeah shes the babe
i wouldnt use her until u figure out the game, but when u do(besides looking as the other enchantress threads) theirs alot of thigs you can do with her, all of which make her the m.v.p of the grey, every grey uses three knights, and if u put an enchantress against 3 knights(especailly with a ward) the enchanty will win. heres allitle hint(which for some reason i never see anybody do, if u decide to make a passive-aggresive strat with the enchantres ass the main peep and making her offensive make sure u put her in the middle of two people(knights) and one back, this allows u to charge forward with her without freezing the knights, it allows the knights to block of the path to the enchanty, and it makes a trap for any assasin(which seems to happen every game) from coming in the middle of the three(since u simply go back two and u have an awsome wall for urself
peace

I would take the Pyromancer out and put the Enchantress right next to the Cleric.
Pyromancer > Enchantress.

Agrees.
If your opponent knows how to counter it, you won't even get to use it.

You are right... if your opponent knows how to counter it you wont even get to use it normally, but you can use it as bait. I just let my chanty sit there till the end of the game (or if the opponent messes up) or I make them pay heavily to kill it. With a BW and the right setup you can really do well with an enchanter.
Of course... I have had good success replacing her with a Pyro... that really helps on same side corner defenses, setting up bombs, and killing those rushing knights.
Just depends on personality...

Soda you are a great grey player, but I disagree with you. The threat is more important than the actual use. Threats can manipulate the opponents to do certain things (like a lightning ward or a witch typically), and its the same with the chanty. Besides, if you are like me and usually kill all their units besides their knights and leave an attacker, wards chanty cleric you will always win. Either they come in and get frozen or you run a lot of hit and runs on them and take them down little by little (especially useful if your attacker is a scout). You are not "using" your enchantress, but the only reason you can pick them off and they cant come get you is because of the enchantress threat, so in actuality she is winning it for you from that position.

A counter-chanty strat needs 2 units minimum, 3 optimally, all positioned to hit the chanty post-focus. Sacrificing the chanty can break th opponents momentum, let you get a few heals in and pull you out of a hole.
It can hold a flank on its own if need be.
A pyro also has its strenghts, primalrily its range and flexible pattern. it also has 60% blocking all sides.
i use both pyro and chanty and ditch the assasin. Courtesy of the bomb everyone know effective killing damage-combos for her now.
The assassin and pyro and scout combo gives you a bomb almost everytime. No matter what they hit it with, you can almost always get a bomb, after that you just have to figure out how to keep her alive. I am not afraid of the chanty, I can be attacking her by turn 3 and don't see her as much of a threat(sp?). It really depends on the player, it is really up to him. I myself used to be one of those chanty players, until I realised how easy she is to counter and that pyro in same sides is priceless.

Meh, just use the default formation. :D

All of you have differents AND valids concepts of the game, for me happenned simlarly like Soda, I was ,as almost all grey players, a turtle chanty user until I began to experience with different units (pyro) and realized his strenghts. My game concept is that pyro, ass, scout are needed as the chanty is, so I don't discard any of em, I prefer 10 mobile units than wards, this is basically my form.

I don't like how the scout has trouble reaching stuff on the right side, but the units will probably be moving around anyways. For some reason, I tend to make my first moves with my scout. Probably because he can often attack without dedicating anything to it. Plus, any offense that isn't well-thought can be squashed with both of those pyromancers so sometimes it's worth it to lure units into the meat-grinder.
Probably smart to keep the witch back, though. Scouts are annoying with barrier ward backup. Sometimes it's fun to make the newbies over-extend them, though.

I personally like to have a strong no-drop set so that I have something I can play with after wipes. I'm not sure what the original poster was looking for but I have pretty good success (I get above 1300 easily playing sporadically throughout the month) with this formation.

There are some weaknesses but I have alot of retreat and response options with this form.
This is a defensive-type formation though... if you are thinking of just sending all units rushing foward this one would be terrible... your knights would be too far ahead of your support units and quickly out of barrier range.
What I had in mind when designing this formation is two things: how to keep the enchanter and cleric alive until the end game.
My main focus is to kill the scout, mages then assassin (in most cases).
The hardest thing to defend against is two knights around the flank with scout backup.... if the guy knows what he's doing... if not I'll kill one knight and blow up the other (or the scout).
