Experiences of Legends

Post your experiences of Legends server here. (And yes, it does exist, just not very well.) Sorry about the length of this post, but it has some good content.

I have been to Legends twice, once when Banff went down about 2 months ago, and today since Banff was down again and I can't get onto rev:(. Two months ago, I went on, and was first jumped by a 1300 grey. I asked him if he regularly jumped players with a 750 rating. His answer: "STFU stupid n00b". Needless to say, I got him down to 2 units for the loss of only 2 of my own. So he asks: "Did you know that you can press F5 for tips?" I reply, "Yes, and if you press ctrl w you get a free dragon."

*N00b has left the arena.*

I laugh, and return to the lobby. I agree a game, sit down on the tile, and get jumped again. This time it's a 1200 gold. His first comment (not even a hello): "Press F5 for a free dragon tyrant!" How ironic, I thought. So I smashed the heck out of him too, losing only 3 units. His parting comment: "You suck balls."

I left in disgust.

Two months later, our bold hero attempts another assault on this so-called *better* server. This time, my experience is slightly better. No-one will respond to my challenge, so I sit down, and play two polite newbs, who I teach some stuff to, and one 1000 grey who plays well and we agree to a draw when he says he has to leave (I was a knight up at the time, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt). I then play a 1300 gold who plays reasonably well, gets several lucky blocks and ends up beating me. We have a pleasant conversation and I congratulate him.

I return to the lobby. A 1285 gold seems very eager to challenge me, so I accept. We sit down, exchange greetings, and begin to play. Here is a slightly shortened transcript of our conversation. (He asked the same question 17 times in the end.)

*I take his Mud golem*
Ri ti: Want to join my clan?
Me: No thanks, I'm from SI on Banff and I'm going to join them here, too.
Ri ti: Ok.

Me: Hehe, cleric to me :D
*I take his frosty and beast rider. He takes two of my knights. He now has a scout, dragon, 2 knights and a cleric left*
Ri ti: If you join my clan, I'll let you have the cleric.
Ri ti has asked you to join <N00b clan 1>. Type /join to accept.
Me: Nah, I'll just beat you and get the cleric and the points :D
Ri ti: Ok.
*A few turns later, it looks like he's losing*

Me: lol
*He takes my last knight and my witch when I sacrifice them to get the scout.*
Ri ti: YESSSSSSS!!!!
Me: Hehe, I win.
Ri ti: No you don't.
*Many moves later... my enchantress freezes his dragon and knight, and is barriered*

Me: lol
*The barrier ward is destroyed, but if he attacks my chanty I get his last knight when I refreeze. He realises this.*

Me: Stop doing that.
Ri ti: If you join, I'll let you have the cleric.
Me: lol
*I kill his dragon and knight with my scout and assassin. His last knight has to run away when injured by my LW.*

Me: I won't join, ok? Stop asking me.
Ri ti: But i'll let you have the cleric...

Anyway, I win. Before I can even say gg, he leaves. Once again, I leave in disgust.

LMAO, legends isnt so bad though...

i put my guy down and a 1300 grey joined my table....as we were playing....

it was a pretty even match...but he got some blocks with DMW and it began to go downhill....as we were playing he goes "i have enough clerics, ill let u win at the end"

i was like wow thats pretty nice of him......and at the end he surrendered

i was impressed

that may be true, but i dont know legends enough to name the nice people but here alot of golds would do the same...there are alot of bad oneshere too tho

I also went to legends once in a while, including during this latest Banff death.
I get into a game, and the player proceeds to tell me to hit f5. I tell him to stuff it, and he then tells me how there are secrets in the game, that certain keys do certain things like give you more health and such.
Well, he happened to be in a clan. So I said i would make sure and send his clan leader the screenie of his nOObishness. He says "you don;t even know who my leader is."
My response?

On both of my grey accounts there, my first drop is a golem. You can't imagine the fun to fight turle with a muddy(not so fun if we are at different side)!

I only played 2 games there. Both times the ppl I played weren't talkers and I beat them, but they were polite in defeat, commenting 'gg'. In my second game, I played a gold who used a dragon tyrant, a stonie a DSM and a beastrider (along with some regular units). I don't often play golds, but this was the first time a ROYALLY killed one. He was cool about it though, so I have nothing ill to say about the demeanor of their players right now. The lag though, is another matter entirely...

On legends their are 3 kinds of people...jerks....vets...and casual gamers (me)...i have had a good time at legends...and i still play there...mainly because i think it has better drops...but thats a matter of preference...

i only bothered to go there once just to check it out and gather info about it so i wouldnt appear to be a complete newb ;)


anway, i fought maybe 2 battles, as far as i remember they were polite, but this was a LONG time ago, like begining of january, so i dont kno anything about the current state of things

Aside from the lag situation...and the departure of the best in Tao...you havent missed much...

My favorite thing about the other server, how much time you have from when you click settings, to when it opens up your formation window. I mean, you have time to make a cup of coffee(grounding down the beans by hand of course) read Gone With the Wind, make a sandwich and still be back in time to see the window pop up, it's...it's nice it really is.

Also, I find the people there are generally not as nice as people here. I find the drops not much help for them, I have never lost to a grey with a beastie, the muddie however has it's uses.

A friend gave me his single upgraded account on legends; when I want a few easy gold games I've gone there. Every gold I've played is a double upgrade, many with 1300-1500 points, and I haven't lost yet.

It seems like on all the servers...the ones with stone gloems are easier to beat oddly:confused:

the n00bs at legends are way worse than the n00bs here

Imagine a server full of multiple Traugers, that was my experience with Legends. Since GL went down I have played a few shy of twenty golds, and I have yet to lose. That server just sucks.

Oh, and for the record, two months ago I played Merfoga. Merf is supposedly the best player on the server. First, he maged bombed. Also, I was using the default setup. I lost, but got him down to two or three units. Pretty Pathetic if that's your best player.

So far I have played Haldavid, Moose, JUicifer, Master of the Blade, _-x-X-x-_, white alliance and other SG players there. They are all at the similiar skill level as me. But many are hard to get hold of now.

Actually master of the blade is the best player...1713 rating...and the people here dont seem different then the ones on legends...i have yet to be defeated on these servers...

In my experience, GL and Army usually are filled with better players than legends. I dont know about Banff, since I havent played there much, but from what people say, it may be about even :D

Hmm... interesting...

Let's see now:

1. Of course there are noobs, and yes the server lags during rushhours (Rushhours=When I don't play there). On the other hand, at least it doesn't just show about:blank when i click "play" there. As for the noobs? Well, they suck, anyway.

2. Smerf is a vet, but the best player? You can just check the rankingspage to find the best players! Also, you lost to a magebomb. No skilled players with respect for themselves lose to magebombs. :rolleyes:

3. I dunno about the skill-level on these servers, I haven't played here for a couple of months, but I'm sure you are good. Unfortunately I can't access the servers (see: above), but if you want to play me, come to legends and ask. I'm not on at these hours, btw.

4. Why are you guys discussing a non-existant server?

My Conclusion: I like this better.

I like playing on legends alot, it is more competitive. Also the grey accounts don't get deleted every month, so if gives you more modivation with the stats.

One game I was in was against a SG Recruit and his stats were 1400+. It came down to my knight with one hit left against his dragon and furgon. When it came down I could only hit his dragon from the front and that would mean defeat to him. I take my knight either taking a spectaular win or unfortuante loss and swish the dragon closes it's wings and poof goes the knight. One hit away to beating a single gold, but luck went his way.

Im not scared to face you, i just wasn't logged on when you posted this...why would i be afraid to play?...its a game...it doesnt matter to me whether i win or lose...as long as its a good game:)

Yeah, it is easier for greys to compete with golds when the golds don't know how to play.

The only reasons the Legends rankings are so high is because of the grey account deletion method. Greys are able to keep their ratings, so their are more greys for golds to hunt.

Its seems that on legends there are a lot of n00b golds...a lot of greys like to face golds...experience greys on legends are a force to be reconed with...

Doors is a grey, and he is the best grey there ever was. He beat Aro. I played him twice, I won once and lost once. I've beaten him, but I admit he's better than me. He's amazing.

I go to Legends now and then. I have upgraded once there, and do not have a Mud Golem. I have only lost to double-golds there. I own the singles, and the greys. Once this SGR guy was giving a good formation(I wasn't quite used to no Stone Golem), but I started beating him while he was showing me how good it was. He told me that that doesn't usually happen.

I love it when Legenders come to these servers. Since most Legenders think that they have more skill than the FPS players, they usually talk trash. I'll give you an example. A pretty well known SG member came on Army on a grey account. He recognised my name, and we started to talk. The first thing he said was "The golds here stink"...he then asked me for a game, and I obliged him. We started to fight, and I had a perfect game in the end(He surrendered when he knew I had him, but I would have flawlessed him IMO). He then said that I must be better than the other golds he's fought, and I simply smiled. Most people know that even a skilled player struggles with a gold, but it was still fun to show him that us FPSers aren't pansies.

When you first go to a server, the best players in that server probably won't bother to fight you. That's why we(humans) all think we have the best server.

With a mud golem, my grey account is able to win 80% of double golds with 1300+ ratings there(I am 1400). But I can only say I have a good formation against turtle, and that doesn't represent their skill. Usually, their cleics die in 5 turns at the teamwork of muddy, scout, knight and DMW:), after that, my golem and pyros will drive them crazy. Again, my stadegy rely a lot on luck.

That is true, and a good point. But even when I just randomly stand on one of our servers and wait for a game they tend to be better than on legends.
