:I've experienced this problem almost every time I play:
When a person (usually a free account - low stats) starts to lose, they close out of the game or refresh. It happens almost every time to me. Is there some way this could be considered a surrender in stats? Or at least penalized?

If they leave you get stats and they lose them.

it counts as a loss to leave the arena for any reason before ur opponent does or the match is over (whether its from a disconnect, refresh, etc etc)

are they in your clan? because if so clan battles dont make you lose or gain stats
