Something's Wrong...anyone who knows a lot about the internet may be able to help

I used to play tactics arena at my house all the time. I also used to play it at my school. Recently it stopped working at my house and I don't know why.

I don't know what to do. I tried deleting temp. internet files, deleteing cookies, even ridding my comp of spyware. I'm at my wit's end not being able to play Tactics can someone please help?

It's probably the sassar virus thats been infecting cpu's. use norton antivirus.

well sasser might be the problem, but DONT use norton, it sucks. the best anti-virus is AVG. you can download it for free just do a google search to find it. DONT use norton is tends to do mroe harm that good when activated and a clean uninstallation is near-impossible.

Thanks renegade...Ill try that. I just did run norton and then i saw your post and got AVG and Im running it at the moment. It found over 50 files that norton didn't...Tells me something lol Ill keep you posted for the result.

What does this Sassa(e?)r virus do? I haven't heard of it yet.

Incredifind is a shithole spyware "search helper". When you go to certain sites, it will automatically redirect you to the Incredifind search page. It's basically a pointless search engine that if used, will only add more spyware and get them more hits in the process. How to get rid of this? I suggest either tinkering with your registry (ONLY IF YOU KNOW HOW!!!!) or simply reformat. Bad thing about spyware is that it will NEVER leave unless you can open source code and figure out what the problem is or reformat. Sorry for the bad news.

try ad-aware 6.0 thats the best spyware - adware removal program there is. I don't know what slipknot is talking about... I'm probably grossly uninformed on the subject of spyware but i've never had any trouble after installing ad-aware.

Scan monthly. And Norton provides excellent virus protection. You must be using an outdated version or something.

Why would he need to reformat? Spybot (as linked to by Rabi) and AdAware (as suggested by Duffman) are all you need to keep your computer clear of Spyware and Adware.

Reformatting takes too long and it cleans out your hard drive. Only n00bs do that!! (!)

Why don't you go ahead and do a search for "Incredifind" on google....get the spyware on your comp yourself....and then tell me you removed it safely with Spybot or Ad-Aware. I found that Ad-Aware and Spybot only remove spyware until the next reboot. My system had 2 spyware files before last reformat......by the next week, I had over 500 just from rebooting and it replicating itself all over the place. These "search helpers" are insanely hard to remove and if you can remove it with AA or Spybot...i'll bow down to you :D


The ONLY way i've found to keep spyware from executing and running in the background of my processes, was to install a firewall and deny their connection to w/e server/comp they were heading to. I'm not tryin to be an ass and tell him to reformat....but that was the only way I was able to rid myself from the stupid "Search helpers". And if Spybot and Ad-Aware don't work for you, and you wanna reformat.....just pop in your system disks, reboot and it should ask you if you want to reformat. I'm lucky....I have a reformat option everytime I reboot with my laptop ^_^

Told ya. Like I said....I know it sucks....but you have to reformat. Unless you're awesomely handy with registry editing....there's no way around it. My girl has the same problem. Might I suggest something though? It's a bit annoying, but it works for her. When you go to play TAO.....after it loads just a bit....hit the esc button. It's the same as using the stop button. Don't let it load too long though, otherwise it'll still go to the incredifind page. Let me know if that works.

search the internet for incredifind...you will find about 15 different sites with directions on how to remove it

i have had 3 different parasites like that one and have been able to completely remove them all by following directions i found on the interenet

also...after you remove them that way...make sure you ad-aware has been updated and then run it again...it will clean up any files that you missed

Will I be able to play tactics again? I'm completely hooked on the game and my grades in m computer class are suffering from not working in there but playing tactics. Thanks for all the help guys.
