Server Competition! Pick 5 Representatives!

Hail Great Lakes! A server competition will be held shortly, to once and for all determine the best server! Matches will be held between competing gold memberships to compete for points, and determine which server has the most talent. More details will be provided later, for now, we need five people to best represent your server!

- Please, do not submit multiple gold accounts belonging to the same person. Only one 'person' per gold account will be allowed to play.

- Either nominate yourself, or another gold member. These votes will be tallied, and a poll will be made from them of 10 candidates.

- From that poll, the top 5 (who are willing to play) will be chosen, and the games will begin!

I agree and disagree at the same time. Besides, integrating greys adds a level of complexity that I don't want to deal with. If grey accounts wish to stop thier trial, and go gold to participate in tournaments, then so be it. ^^

You will have time, though not much of it. The nomination process will take a couple weeks itself, and then another week or so to narrow it down to 5, then another week of downtime while the servers formulate their 'strategeries' while the matches and scoring system are debated upon.

having played and beaten draquist from banff, i would not recommend Lord Kalamady, achilles or any of the others from BS They would just get eaten up. Although I due have some "issues" with all the attitude eminating from that clan, this is not meant to be personal, but your attack rythms and tactics would be eaten up by those two alone from banff.

I am not sure about myself(eindeg-dein), as i am still new to gold but i will do what I can if need be.

In that respect, Tcbb, I have never played you, but by your posts alone I am impressed. I nominate you as well. I just read Xerent's post on when the tournament will take place. At least a month? That's probably for the best, but I'm just going to say that in a month I'll be working as a lifeguard at a kids camp... and living there. No access to computers:( Sorry guys, I'd have loved to have been involved, seeing as my name cropped up a few times.:) I think I would have represented us well, perhaps shocking a few more well established players.
However, now that I've released this information. I might as well say it; I'm gonna be gone for 3 months (June, July, August) with only sporadic access to a computer. I'm still debating whether or not to even keep my account as a gold. At any rate, you may as well be prepared for it now. Instead of me, I would suggest Ach, plusminus, Cav, Skof, or Golem from BG.

Okay, something's wrong here. I appreciate the nomination, but for the purposes of this tourney, I'm pretty much the same as trauger but without the gold toys. I play any grey, and I do all right, but pit me against a gold who knows what he's doing and I'm in trouble. Working on it though, just give me some time!

Yes i still check these forums once and a while just to see whats going on in the world of TAO, you people amaze me with some of your nominations. first of all Tcbb is the best player to have ever played on TAO if he is not included you are all moronic. Aro23r is also very very good and should do quite well. Trauger for certain he is an ex Elite and was and still probably is one of the best out there, its too bad all the elites are gone They were at one point the best around period. The other person who got no mention because he doesnt play much is Ahab, hes awesome. Definately Xyx because he was tough to beat even as a grey and as for the last I have no idea, pick the best of all those other players ive never heard of. Not Lord kalamady I saw him stomped by my friend as a grey so i say no (sorry Kalam your just not experianced enough) and ive never seen any of the others in action. Oh yea PLus minus was very promising when I played him last he'd probably be a good bet.

Thanx for your good words, and sorry to see you leave. Trauger certainly isn't the Trauger you know of. My recent experience with him was about a week ago, on a random grey account. He used F5 trick on me!

Trauger did play some golds. I recently checked the list of the players I played. Surprisingly, it's trauger whom I played 2 games with, not tugger. Trauger might be an honorable player 2 month before, but he went down after he left the elite.

But MW is Tcbb. You're the same person. You've even said you think Banff is the best server. I don't think we can consider you a true GLer.

Your clan was founded on GL, you played the majority of your games on GL, everyone knows you on GL, and you made one of the top 100 on GL, top 10 at one point I think. I'd say that makes you a GL'er

I know I am a GLer, but many people don't think so. Most old GL players whom I played with(the Elite) are gone, I hardly know any new GL players.

Before I was deleted, I was #7 in GL, #6 in Banff, and #1 in Armegeddon. Other servers would have a excuse if I fight for GL. At the GL vs Arm tourney I was going to fight for GL; snarr said:"but you are part of Armegeddon too". I would have fought that time except they couldn't find an opponent for me.

Thank you guys for the support. Taking the result of last tourney into consideration, I think this matter over again and made my final dicision; I won't post on this subject again until touney start. If Rogue_Wolf can fight for Armegeddon without objection, then I will fight for GL and nobody from other servers will say anying about it. Of course, if many excellent players mature in GL by the time, they can better represent GL. Also, I have some difficulty getting gold again(need another credit card), so if not many good players in Banff attend, I may not go gold.

Any way, accoding to xerent, there is still one month. No one really knows what will happen by then. I suggest we nominate 10 players. Who ever is available by then will represent GL. Good luck guys.

Edit: Lord Ducki, it's pretty amazing you get to #4 so fast. The best I get on GL was #7, hehe. Guess I should have played more games to win the trust of the commoners.

Alot of our best players seem to have vanished with The Elite... Also, Tcbb, you bring up a good point with Rogue playing for Army without any controversy, so Id be happy to see you in for us :) I know youve played on all servers, leading to the question of loyalty, but regardless of the fact that you wandered, GL is your server in my oppinion, and i believe in yours as well... Your argueably the best, and if not, you certainly are one of the best, and I dont think GL would be fairly represented without you in there... then theres the thing about possibly not getting gold in time... plus, you may be a little rusty... If you cant get a new credit card just send a check... thats what I did... :D

ya.. your probably right Darrington.. i totally suck.. because if i you beat me it must be the case. Who are you trying to insult me or yourself?

after playing the most of the people here, I would say the best people are:
tcbb - simplely said, he is DA MAN.
Dubious (very creative and has fun with the game, but i do believe he is gone for 3 months)
golem - kinda boring setup, but it is very very effective under his control
krazikarl - bit of a gold jumper, but i can relate as most gold on this server at too worried about their stats to challenge anyone new.
take your pick from xyx or plusminus.. about the same caliber solid consistent players.

As for the rest, I have yet to see them prove themselves as most of them refuse to play me or we haven't had a chance yet.

I do believe that most of the rest of the people have very simple turtle setups with scouts,DT,Muddie, cleric, LW, nights.. having seen the players from banff, I just dont think it has enough bang to beat the better players from there.

ps thanks tcbb, i have to credit some of those points to dubious as we had 3 matches where we played EXTREME "FIRE & ICE" TAO. the most fun i've had with a gold in a long time. cheers, dubi man!

However, i lost about 50pts to disconnects and have been experimenting with different setups, that have cost me matches, see darrington above. I also ask what units are allowed to be sporting, as most people on this server don't know how to counter my duck roast formation or only know how to use a basic turtle... somehow, people have this idea that a turtle is the only way to get a tactical game from tao.
So, we'll see how i do at the end of the month, should have solidified things by then. ;)

Thats really the only two I have played that i believe is worthy(that i can think of) but i havent had a chance to play many good players and i feel it unfair to nominate someone that i have not played.

endeg -- as far as the turtle setups go i love them and i believe that a good player should be able to put up a good fight with many setups not just one.....how ever i am guilty of over useing the turtle but and i have even practiced useing it to take on some of the best mage bombs...my point is the way i figure it if it works for you then why not use it

I have to agree with what xyxaxyz2 said a few pages back about how the server representatives should be not only good players, but long time dedicated GL-ers.

So, Aro23r, xyxaxyz2, and S_K_O_F should all be in for sure. For the other two, Ach and Cavour seemed to be the popular choices, except they both said they were taking a break. If they will both play a special come-out-of-retirement match, then fine. If not, then there are a few people that have been around that could take the spots.

One of them is me; if you've not played me before, ask someone who has whether or not I'm any good. And I have been here a good 5 months now. For a 5th person, there's a few choices, a name that's coming to mind is Game Over. He's quite skilled, and is certainly not new to the game. In any case I do feel that people that represent our server should be picked on more than just skill alone.

Sorry Lord Ducki you wont ever get that game i'm afraid Ive retired from TAO and I don't think anyone nominated me In the first place, I don't think I was ever one of the absolute best so I probably wouldnt belong in this Tourny even if I sitll played. I Havent heard of half these new guys and thatscares me. Aparently GOlem is quite good though I don't think he was around when I started playing but if everyone nominated him he must be dam good.
