It is anoying when you dont know if you got disconnected or not

and you dont know how much time is left on the players screen.

It should show the timer on both sides of play.

the timer is on the client side (or so I believe). Because of this, when your opponent lags out or gets disconnected in certain ways, the timer doesn't activate at all on their turn. This means that you simply have to wait until their account gets booted from simple inactivity.

This is the cause of a lot of waiting for ppl when their opponents either have a bad connection, or simply leave the game improperly.

I think this is a great idea. Not so much so we know if they get disconnected, just so we know how much time they have left.

And we can see if they're stalling or just thinking really hard about each move.:D

I think there should be a hold function, where both players agree to pause the game for a while while one answers the phone/goes to the loo/does whatever else takes 2 minutes. This would have to be agreed by both players, so stallers couldn't exploit it. I hate rushing back from the loo and finding 10 seconds left to make a move.

I like the idea.

Bottle, I guess you are from England, because no where else in the world do people call the bathroom / toilet, the 'loo'.

You actually didn't know that I was from England before this thread?

If there is a problem with the client side timer thing, why don't they just have a bar that is on YOUR side that gives a hypothetical time based on the units your opponent has left? The timer isn't random, your computer SHOULD be able to calculate the time your opponent has at the start of each turn, right?
