I would have to say my favorite is the scout, because of all the sneaky LOS patterns.
But the best for a grey of my size is definetly chanty. *nod*

agreed, people think 3 knights can deal with a chanty? WRONG, get some good turn order going and wham, you can still won it. A single knight vs chanty = chanty, but, its a waste, and it doesn't kill it.
Top grey units:
-knight
-scout
-chanty
Gold Units
-Muddy (due to its incredible hp and strickig distance, inbalance rules)
-Scout:D

Personally i dont think the cleric isnt that very vital in a game bcuz i have played a hand full of people who dont use clerics, and they seamed to stand a chance, and would get really close to winnig but not quite there.

I'll have to say Chanty... even if used out of end-game movements, it can be useful to stall your opponent while you kill or at least do severe damage to a vital troop. One of my favorite strategies is to freeze the scout then barrier. In my setup, if they hit the barrier ward with anything but a scout (has to be a magic unit) they will lose it instantly to my LW. During the time they are wasting breaking focus and losing their troops :P , I'm killing their scout with the Knight next to my chanty :D
SHORT FORM: Chanty

What if your opponent isn't stupid enough to let his scout be killed/frozen?

My favorite unit used to be the Frost Golem too, but then the Mud Golem's 2nd attack was created and I moved here where everyone has two Scouts. That said, my new favorite units are Knights and Scouts. They rarely dissapoint me.
Enchantress all the way for me ~Smiles~
I have a liking of her FAR over the Frostie and have alot of experiance with her. ((On and off the field? O.o'))
Also she sometimes appears in my gold formations
grey - chanty (lets just say wine gets better with age)
gold - furgon (he makes shrubs and whenever ur loosing they explode on the nearest opponent knight...realy)
yeah, im out

Hmm... This is a hard decision.
Grey: Definately a tie between the Scout and Chanty. Both are so critical in a Grey game.
Gold: Furgon or Wisp. They're both cool looking, both have a sh*tload of tactics behind them ... And besides, who doesn't like a beefed-up bear with horns waddling around being chased by a flying rodent? Hehe :D.

My god, some of the recent posts here...
vipe, you realise that a BW can prevent a cleric kill by a scout quite easily? And they die in 3 hits even with healing, so if an opponent focuses on the scout, it won't get the second shot on the cleric in anyway. Scouts are good for other reasons, mainly for killing enchantresses and other mages. And the mud golem... well, with 0 blocking and the need to move in close to attack, you'll be lucky to get 2 attacks with it if it's unarmored...
Blexican, HOW CAN A STATIONARY UNIT BE YOUR FAVOURITE UNIT??? Half of the grey games I play, it doesn't even get one shot in.
Terps, you mustnt play many good golds. The stone golem is the BEST unit to use against greys. Armor a dragon, 2 scouts and a muddie or wisp, and you have a group of units no grey will beat if used well.

Grey: Cleric, you can't live gret without it.
Gold: I like strategic units, close call for furgy and wisp.

 can't u respect ppl's opinions? sometime, ppl like things for no logical reason.
anyway, fav grey unit = scout (enchant is just as important, but scout is less boring to use). Since i'm not gold, fav gold unit would have to be frosty. in turtles, i have trouble against that the most.

I can see why some selected the barrier ward. Namely because its positioning on the field is critical, and with (mainly) enchantresses and witches, it's lethal.
The furgon is a good unit for many purposes as is the wisp and frosty if teamed with it (and ambusher, if I approved of it).
Personally, I like enchantresses for greys as if used effectively can form a terrific defense (with barrier ward, obviously. Else it is basically useless as scouts can snipe it), protecting the flank. Also, assassins are underrated. Most greys make the mistake of shooting assassins from the side with their scout (likely from 6 spaces away). All you have to do from here is be aware if there is any barrier ward on their side in range of the scout. Move two spaces forward, turn away from your own scout, then next turn shoot your assassin with your scout from behind, then explode on their Scout. Works like a charm and players barely notice it (if they do, they can't do anything about it anyway).
For golds, I like frosties.

frosts suck posion wisps rule
Though you are completely entitled to your opinion, it is wrong to say Frost Golems suck. I can understand the comment about Poison Wisps "ruling", but again, Frost Golems don't suck. I'm not sure if you are just terrible with them or you just like standing out by being different, but I can bet you that any poster that actually puts thought into their posts and doesn't make an attempt only to make their posts stand out to gain recognition can tell you that Frost Golems are certainly one of the best units (if not already the best) to use. Without them, turtles are missing a vital unit to their formation and strategy. Frost Golems are also another reason gold turtlers can overcome greys that charge in with their three Knights to pound on your army leaving you no room to breathe. However, placement is the key to making a Frost Golem effective.
Also, as a side note, how did you become unbanned? If an administrator unbanned you, did they explain why?
