This post is for n00bs and veterans, Golds and Greys. It is a basic guide to how different types of formation do against other variations of formations.
For now, let us use three common strategies:
Rock: Turtle
Paper: Mage Bomb
Scissors: Flanking
As you can see, a basic variation of a one-sided Turtle will probably be defeated by a basic variation of a Mage Bomb, due to the overwhelming area of effect of high-damage attacks.
A basic Flanking strategy will, therefore, beat a Mage Bomb, due to Spellcasters's low HP and questionable blocking.
Due to the logic followed, a basic Turtle will probably defeat a Flanking setup, due to the Turtle ability to outlast the opposing forces and bring the units to the area of "no escape", so to speak.
Advanced Rock, Paper, and Scissors
Let us move on to more advanced strategies and how they fair against each other.
Rock: Enchantress/Frost Golem/Barrier Ward Freeze Box
Paper: Knight Wall (Offensive/Defensive)
Scissors: Knight Rush
Following the logic of Rock, Paper, Scissors, one would conclude that a Freeze Box variant would defeat a typical Knight Rush, allowing your opponents Rush to break through, and then freezing the majority of your opponent's offensive units.
A Knight Wall (Offensive, not a Freeze Box) would beat a Frost Box, due to the Wall protecting units that could move in and remove the Paralysis threat. After the main focus of that variation is taken care of, you could easily finish off your opponent.
A typical Knight Rush would, logically, defeat a defensive Knight Wall, due to the offensive threat of the Rush. If the Rush was accompanied with Dark Magic Withces and/or Pyromancers, the Wall would be an easy target for the power and area of effect of the spellcasters.
So concludes the Rock, Paper, Scissors of TAO. If you have any additions, please add them here.
