I was just wondering what the TAO community thought about me new signature banner. I might use this one or another one Sir Vival made for me, please post your opinion if you like this banner or not.

This isn't the finished version yet either, that won't be here until tomorrow. ^_^

Grr... someone has been copying my ideas.

NOT COOL -.-'

Serge
06-22-2004, 01:15 AM
Yeah, that's a big ripoff of DKR's new banner. Also, blazedaces already has the Ace of Spades as his avatar...

DKR
06-22-2004, 01:23 AM
I onyl used the ace of spades because it was the easiest thing to find. The card idea came from no where, but Vival, I thought we were past the whole banner war thing...

Serge
06-22-2004, 01:46 AM
Well, with the chick on it, your's looks more like a queen of spades. Also, Vival, your banner is too wide, it I can't see it all without scrolling to the right. Which means, I sometimes (rarely) have to scroll to the right to read all of the words in your post when you post more than one line.

DKR

I take pride in my work :(

This has actually put me on a bit of a low... could of at least asked but noooo...

I suppose I should stop ranting about it but I'm a strong opposer of thieves : / Especially when its mine! >_<

Sir Vival
06-22-2004, 07:14 AM
DKR, this isn't a banner war. You and I settled our disputes, and I loved your new outline and had to use it. I'm actually thinking of taking out the spade and making it look like a mirror or something. Now, if you keep those great designs up for me to mock, my banners will keep bringing in customers. ^_^

Edit Reason: By the way, I could start adding "Layout Designed by DKR", if you like. Just takes up more space. Again, we need a symbol to show we made it.

DKR
06-22-2004, 07:50 AM
First of all I would appreciate you actually asking me if you use the layout design.

Secondly I don't label banners with my names because they are anothers signature banner, not mine, but just because I don't label them doesnt mean you can steal off me, which from where I'm standing is what you did.

A bit of manners would go along way, especially when i'm concerned.

Here is 'your' banner, edit it how you will, I don't really care but the things you wanted are there and at a good quality.

http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/4642/Lost1.jpg

Seriously, do it again and i'm going to come down upon you like a ton of bricks. I'm not a fan at all of ANYONE who steals designs and work off others, especially when its me who it concerns!

lol, should have asked for layout, its not cool to steal

LOL, Dude....

This is so uncool. Vival you obviously have talent. I've seen it, and I like some of your work. DKR obviously has talent as well. Everyone knows both of your work is good and I would hope can appreciate the time and effort put into it by the both of you.

HOWEVER what you are doing is completely LAME.
Respect level for your work previous to this thread = High
Respect level for you & your work after this thread = ZILCH

Sad sad sad.

lol, DKR's banner is so much cooler, AND HOTTER, how is that possible? lol

Sir Vival
06-22-2004, 10:11 AM
DKR, I mock banners - it's what I do. You can try to come down on me as hard as you want. Now, if you really want me to stop, I suppose I could for a little bit. Respect? I'm Sir Vival, respect was my removed middle name.

So what you're saying is you're like the Weird Al of banners? Not the original...not quite as good...but sometimes very funny?

Cool. Sir Vival I dub thee Weird Val.

Sir Vival
06-22-2004, 10:31 AM
If that's the way you would like to put it, then alright.

Cephas
06-22-2004, 10:32 AM
Doesn't Wierd Al get permission first though?

Sir Vival
06-22-2004, 10:35 AM
You see, there's the difference. He get's permission, I don't.

DKR
06-22-2004, 10:44 AM
And through that, he is liked because he asks and does not annoy those he has paradied...

I do graphics, drawings and works for myself. Sometimes I do banners for other people and for my own signature, and other pieces for similiar purpose, but it is for me fun work, but note it is MY work.

I, as some might remember from the art thread by a past poster now gone, dislike people who steal art or manipulate work without asking.

Your falling into that catagory slowly because of your lack of respect towards other peoples work.

Quite frankly, I'm appaulled you would do such a thing, and also inclined very much to wonder why? Have you no creative ideas of your own?

Art stealing I consider one of the worst things on this net, and so it might just pull me away from this forum seeing people like that inhabit a place I thought generally friendly

Sir Vival
06-22-2004, 10:47 AM
DKR, I had no idea it offended you in such a way. I want this enviroment to be as friendly as possible. My flaming is not just so people don't pester me, it's because I want the best for Tactics Arena Online. By flaming, I feel that it helps the players confidence and self-esteem. My banners were only another way for me to encourage the growth of Tactics Arena Online and it's friendly enviroment.

I like the banner. I really think that DKR's banners is better though.

Al Caponeoni
06-22-2004, 10:50 AM
I do agree with you DKR, but is it not true that mockery only shows one's lack of skill?

And besides, one only mocks a certain peice (or style) of art because that peice is better than most.

So, in a sense, mockery is a show of respect. (In most cases)

But I do agree that it isn't.... well.... cool.

DKR
06-22-2004, 10:50 AM
Art is like an expression, much like a dance, a song or an instrucment being played. By putting real effort into your work your putting apart of yourself in that to.

To then have someone steal your work with a single word for asking and then claim you do not care for what others thinks is one of the worst things I can classify for my pet hates.

Art theft = bad
Proud to be a thief of that = Too low to even describe

Hmm, i didnt know me using a banner would cause an argument, DKR, I'll used your fixed up one, and sorry about that.

Just ask Coolio. He didn't think it was too cool...why should DKR?

Hydrant
06-22-2004, 01:21 PM
edit- upon reflection, that was a mean thing for me to say

so Ill say this

they are both.... interesting banners..but it is better to be unique/
However, lost n confused's banner is not obscured by a whole bunch of other... cra... stuff below it. Thus his stands out more and has a better overall feel to it.

DKR
06-22-2004, 01:40 PM
Other crap? If you do not like something do not voice your word upon it.

I have a right to have the signature within a reasonable length with suiting things, which I am content on thinking that they are.

If your have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all

Sir Vival
06-22-2004, 01:44 PM
Yeah, DKR's banner was a hell of alot better than the one I made for Daniel. I just did that real quick because I had promised him one a few days earlier. Now, since you're a member of KOTR, it doesn't surprise me that you're such an ass.

Hydrant

DKR's banner fills up my entire screen

how is that of reasonable length?!?!?!?!

xerent
06-22-2004, 02:01 PM
You must have an exceedingly low resolution then. ^^

DKR
06-22-2004, 02:03 PM
What resolution your running on?

Mine takes up about a quater :/

Also I believe mine is the same length as Omega Paladin's

well his sig is huge too

Im not saying I dont read what people put in their sigs... its just.. its SO MUCH. Sigs should have like: a nice banner and maybe 1 quote. not line after line. When taking direct quotes from the lobby, each new though takes up a whole line, even if it is just one word. The whole conversation could fit into one single line without all the paragraph breaks....

Jeffery
06-22-2004, 02:15 PM
Actually, the long sigs usually result in people just turning the sigs off. I HAVE to when on dial up, or the pages take days to load.
While I do not think limits are good, those who are impolite enough to make their sigs real long should just be set onto your ignore list. Then their sig is gone. If enough people stop listening to them, they will learn their ways.

Sir Vival
06-22-2004, 02:21 PM
I suppose we could suggest a signature limit, but like all the other suggestions it would most likely be ignored.

clay
06-22-2004, 02:32 PM
but most peoples sig's are funny but also annoying. everyone has a good point here. sigs are both sometimes fun and stupid. But i think we could even do without sig's no offence to all those sig lovers out there.

Yeah, but so is not being able to read every couple of letters in your posts.

Sidenote: Is my Sig approvable by Hydrant and x standards?

and I can read xyx too (and am shocked that he agrees with me!)

Banners are good as long as they're not annoyingly annoying or to big. I don't like annoying things.... or banners. So what I'm trying to say is, don't get an annoying sig.

Yeah I guess you're right. In the post above my last one in this thread the only letter that is to dark is the "i" in sigs.

I remember one week we suddenly had a huge surge of nasty gross banners, the stand out being that weiner ball. *shudder*
Thank heavens that fad went away.

Okay, if no one else will say it, I will. APZ, your banner's size is fine, but it kills my poor work computer. When I'm on my notebook or my home PC, it gives me no problems, but a PIII ~500 just can't handle all that Mario/Cow goodness!

If you had Firefox, you could block his banner, and his banner alone.

The admins have us locked down so tight here, its a wonder I can slip trillian through! I've seen the thread about firefox, I just don't see a point to moving to it at home, IE seems to work fine...

With popups, Active-X controls, and security holes like "swiss cheese," as xerent so eloquently put it, I'd say that our definitions of "working fine" differ greatly.

Firefox is superior in every way to IE, hands down.
