I suggest we have a separate thread for those of us who like to come up with new mechanics in our spare time, and not so much tinkering with unit stats to make it balanced. So far, the mechanics that I most like are:


Stat modification spells
Counterattack (instead of or in addition to blocking)
Magic resistance (this was in the tactics core demo...)
Teleport other
Damage-over-time spells

Any comments or other interesting mechanics?

There was a poster a while back named fragdemon, he started a thread like this, it crashed and burned. So I'd say the only people who would post on a forum like the one you mentioned would be you, him, and maybe me. I like to introduce the new mechanics through my unit ideas.

I like the idea of a teleport other ability.

How about a remove for period of turns

or a

paralysis and transparency effect? Say like the enchantressess freezing which then places a transparency atribute upon the a unit so you can walk through it but cant stay on the same square as it.

Perhaps you are right then, and maybe half-baked units are better than half-baked mechanics? I would also like to see proposals for units that are moderate variations on existing units, but I think that idea isn't too popular. Makes people argue too much! So, one of these days I'll incarnate one and hope it hasnt been done before.

Well, as far as I can tell you are the kind of poster I would like to see more ideas from in this forum.
